    Default No Ships!

    Hey there,

I've started a grand campaign as Cisalpine Gaul, and it is suberb! (First "barbarian" nation EVER to me!) But there is one issue: I can't build ships. Not any. I've planned a naval invasion on Illyrians (Pharos exactly), and than I realised the horrible truth.

So, .... hm ... HELP! (Please)

I had exactly the same problem. Only a few major ports can build ships, and northern Italy doesn't have any. Unless you're moving into Italy, your best bet is probably to build ships in Massalia and then sail them around Italy.

Well historically I dont think many regions of the Gauls had proper ports. So it makes sense I suppose.

Like Arkaeyn said, head to Massalia and build ships there.

    Hm.

"Well historically I dont think many regions of the Gauls had proper ports. So it makes sense I suppose."

You are absolutely right! But I just would like to transfer my troops to another location on the same coastline. I just can't belive that these savage-barbarian-simple minded-dull gauls can't build any boats (not real ships, boats!).

"Like Arkaeyn said, head to Massalia and build ships there."

Did you mean Massilia, in Southern France, or Massalia (in an insane distance - Sicily)? If I conquer Massilia, I have to sail around Italy for a pity pirate-raid on the remote Adriatic. Now that is ahistorical.

    Oh well.

Anyway, thanks for your quick replies!

He means Massalia, in southern Gaul. There is no Massalia in Sicily - it is actually Messana or Messene (the earlier Greek spelling)

But you do have a point.

He, If you have played kingdom of Massyli, you can't either build war ports, but they had let came romans to train there infantry.
(and with much influence of the Chartages, which did sail much, I think that they could build at least an sort of boat to transport>?

    or are i wrong?
