when did they say they'd release the unit editor?
when did they say they'd release the unit editor?

Yeah I am looking forward to this as well ... I thought it was already in the game ... I hope it is easy to do!
They should hurry the hell up. I wanna make a few beast-lookin' regiments of the Prussian army.
My guess is it will come out with the first DLC.
Pretty much this. Don't hold your breath on this one. If they do release it, it won't be until after they sell their DLC packs. What would be the point for them to do it before?
Because it's not in the game already, I can't see it being released now for our benefit at all. It'll only be released if it benefits CA.If it's not in the game it was held back for a reason, be it marketing reasons, it not being finished or maybe even scrapped. CA is a profit seeking company first and foremost, everything they do is for them only and maximising income while reducing workloads.
- If it ever comes out perhaps in a buggy beta state like the Empire multiplayer campaign did to use us as testers for the next game?
- Or maybe as a payable DLC?
- Or once all the other unit DLCs have been exhausted and they want a boost in sales, so modding tools start to be released to extend the life of the game making more people buy it?
I'd guess a mix of points 1 and 3, so forget about it for a long time. And don't be too excited when the limited and buggy feature eventually comes.![]()
Well its now being advertised as coming with the game so to not include it for free would incur some legal issues and to not make it available soon will involve a lot of rather disgruntled customers who bought their game on the understanding that the editor was included.
I hate sega, Look at empire, its not CAs fault, ITS ALL SEGAS FALT!!!!!
"sega will pay... pay i tell you!"
Considering it's only a uniform editor and not a unit editor, you might well get it in a patch soon, but don't expect it to be very complex and working propperly -- It might only work in single player aswell. And if it is being "let go" to us so early after them holding back, it's because their sales weren't as high as predicted and they want to attempt to lure more people in.
Napoleon's a great game and i'm loving the multiplayer. But just remember profit is all that's on Sega / CAs mind. Anything they do "out of the goodness of their heart" is only there to renew interest or boost sales and lead to more profit. There's no moral kindness that they owe you as a customer.

I can't see why it would take so long.
If you look in the files, you can find components for it such as in the "UnitEditor" sub-folder which has three seperate brushes for use in it...
They need to hurry up.
The unit editor must be already ready to be used but they have a calendar, as DLC, it will be out when the moment has come.
I really want the editor as well.
I don't have the time to mess around with pack files and stuff like that.
I wish they would make a unit editor where you can create you own units, sadly that would not happen because they want revenue from the dlc.
Er, I assumed that it's a uniform editor, not an editor that'll let you modify stats and stuff on your available units. And, some guy found the files already, so, yeah, we can guess that it'll come sooner than later.
Whatever editor is already at their hands, in the name of developing tool. Question is release it to public or not. I, who am amazed by DLC (of units) approach to boost sales, do not believe it's possible. I am not mean to accuse them for it, as they are company in nature who seeks profit all the time. If only they just followed traditional sales method like expansion, then things might have been different.
