    Icon5 Concerning Biography and traits

while i am playing the game i always notice something is lacking in the "Famous Heroes". I was playing Gondor and i clicked on the Biography of Denethor...not to bad...goes into some detail...so i was like hey why not check out the other Leaders and generals. so i started with HE clicked on elronds biography...it was OK but really didnt mention much about his doings in the third age...or how hes an awesome commander at the battle of Last Alliance or the maker of the fellowship. so i click on Saruman for Isengard..."an istari and wizard of great power" to sum it up nicely....really thats it....same with legolas and so on for some dwarves..etc..and pretty much any other general except for Glorfindel...yeh everybodys got him covered...lol

i know that some of this stuff is supposed to be just imaginative and somepart lore but really....i mean you could add WAY more stuff about denethor or gandalf or legolas or at least Saruman and Elrond...in the RR/RC you guys go way in depth about the Noldor and Sindar and all this stuff but you can also do that with the biography too...i pursonally think this is a major part of the game...i dont think its something you can just ignore because in the THIRD AGE some of these generals and leaders Had a HUGE impact on the outcome of the story...you can still put that denethor was the best leader of his time...but than add that he became corrupted and fell into depression after the death of his wife and later killed himself during the siege of Gondor yes he might still be alive during the game but adding some historical facts about the person isnt going to ruin the game...

please leave a comment...i really think this is something that is crucial to the game.

But many of your suggestions are talking about things that have not happened yet. MAybe Denethor won't be the best leader of the age? Or not get corrupted. Elrond could go to war with Rohan and not form the fellowship.....

I agree you could add detail about things done before the game starts but I'm not sure it's that vital, it would just be a nice bonus.

whell just like in the other TW games...take any faction from RTW BI (Rome TW Barbarian Invasion)

for western roman inpire they describe it a little and tell you that a great leader is needed to re-unite the romans into the powerful force they once where...etc and then at the end its puts in a little bit about what really happened Historically. saying that the romans fell about around i think it was 300 something a.d. and the only roman culture survided in the eastern roman empire.....

you get my point though...i mean this is about the third age....so if your going to be lets say Boromir...ok maybe he doesnt die at amon hen and he helps you counquer all of harad and mordor and what have you but i would still like to read that 1. he is the greatest captain/general for some time and that hes got a brother faramir and a father denethor. but also 2. it would be nice to have a Historical fact that boromir was one of the fellowship member whos epic journey was to go to mount doom to destroy the one ring...boromir perished at the hands of sarumans uruk-hai while bravely defending the two hobbits merry and pippin..i mean thats not that bad is it..better than what they have now. could even put that he personally was responsible for holding back the armies of mordor while his army and brother retreated to from east osgiliath. what have you. just need something better.

this also can work for 1.5 since if im correct they are going to impliment the fellowship quest in??

Oh yes, I get your point. Some more details could certainly be included and with the fellowship campaign it would be quite different.

I think the argument for is "It would be cool." and the Counter-argument is "Do you want that or more cool units?"
I'm voting cool units, but I don't think anyone else wouldn't mind if more was added.

Hey I got an idea! Why don't YOU write it, and then submit it to them? Then they only need to copy paste it in! Heck, maybe even pass it around the community so that we can discuss each one so that it fits in nicely without saying too much about what hasn't really been done yet in the game. I mean it's obviously more of a time issue, and the worse case it could be a sub-mod.

I greatly support that approach. Even more there is no need of a copy and paste, since the files, that determine what's said on biography are very accessible: I think it's 'export_vnvs.txt' at 'third_age/data/text' (or another .txt-file in the same folder).
If you'd write something and publish it in the forum, people could add thoughts or suggest phrases and, when done, you could just implement it into your export_vnvs.txt and mail that to the modders.

i've you want to implement historic events.. i can probably implement them.. so i've you make a small vid of boromirs death for example.. and a few lines about boromir and how he died.. i could script these to trigger when amon hen is in sight

i was thinking about implementing lots of historic events.. and adapting a few.. this would result in for instance the amon hen area having a script from here died boromir.. bree having a message about the hobbits meeting aragorn.. etc etc.. i even want to implement some new vids such as grey haven and i'm currently working on weathertop
