    Default ETW to RTW?

Is it possible to use the ETW.exe engine with RTW type units and map? I prefer the Copper and Bronze ages of history, and would like to play or help make a mod that uses the advanced technology of the ETW engine.

First obstacle is the lack of tools for modding the unit models which ETW are using to RTW type models. It's like trying to get tin figurines of 18th Century European line infantry soldiers to look like Roman soldiers. I think we're still waiting for CA to release such tools.

It's possible. I successfully got RTW Vanilla running with alex.exe last night. It is a little complicated, but there is a tutorial in these forums about how to do it.

Yes, getting alex.exe to work for RTW is no problem. I've done that myself, with the Europa Barbarorum mod. But I thought you meant to do it the other way around, changing ETW to a RTW type of game. Sorry about that. Well, in that case, I'm not sure the engine for ETW is compatible with the RTW files like that.

lol I forgot what I had originally posted about. Now that I have reread everything I understand what you are telling me. I apologize for my previous confusing reply.

I would like to see an ETW mod with Romans and Greeks. Maybe what I really would like to see is RTW2...

Yes, a RTW2 sounds fantastic. I prefer the history of that time frame, too. Isn't there a RTW type of mod for M2TW already? I suspect we'll have to settle for something like that for the next couple of years, at least

Still waiting for them to be released. There's Roma Surrectum II for Rome Total War, but it makes the graphics look on a par with M2: TW!
