I saw that video. i have to say, at first i was rather skeptical but when he actually read from this bible i could easily see the similarities. Still, i wonder if a religious person could give their view on this?...

Well the ten commandments were created on Mt. Horeb. This mountian is located in western Arabia. It is still surrounded by the twelve pillars of rocks that set the boundaries that the Israelites were not to pass. The top of the mountian is still blackened by heat or fire that was hot enough to turn the rock into black glass.
It was not related to a volcanic eruption.

where in the levant/middle east is there a volcano?
or a formerly active volcano in the past 50,000 yrs?
Did you even notice that map in the background of one scene, with volcanoes plotted on it?
Yeah, I was reading about some scientists who said certain non-volcanic mountains can suddenly heat up really hot and nearly instantly turn the ENTIRE peak to obsidian, and I mean the whole thing. http://www.transistor.org/personal/p...1/obsidian.jpg that is REAL. It's perplexing to science, no one knows why it happens, it just happens! It's like a PERFECT proof for religion! come on man, you've just gatta realize that God makes these things happen! It's a sign to us of his existence!

Surprisingly a lot of visions in the bible seem to refer to natural events.
Actually, if I recall correctly, the Sinai peninsula was named after the Bible. As late as Paul in the New Testament, Sinai is recorded as being in Arabia.
By the way, there are multiple volcanoes, both active and extinct, in Saudi Arabia with recent eruptions.Originally Posted by Galatians 4:25

Although none, as far as I can tell, for their time period.

There is a lot of evidence of past geologic evidence of volcanism througout the area. It all runs near the East African rift valley.
However , Mount Horeb has not been volcanically active for at least tens of thousands of years.
The Sinai Peninsula is not really considered to be the location of the mountian of God and the wilderness of Sinai anymore. Many bible concordances still stick stubbornly to the old hypothesis however where they claimed the Israelites simply crossed the sea of reeds and spent 40 years in the Sinai peninsula.
The modern day Sanai peninsula was the region that the Israelites traveled through when Moses decided not to take them on the direct road that would run to Gaza. The bible describes how they came to a dead end basically (the tip of the peninsula) where they were hemmed in by the mountians, the sea and the Egyptians.
They crossed at the Gulf of Aquaba and entered into the land of Midia where coincidentally the mountian of God existed where Moses saw the burning bush.
Which is relevant to this article because you need to research the location of where the ten commandments were created before you can research your volcanic origin hypothesis.
I never said it was obsidian. I can get a fire hot enough to melt sand and days later I will find blackened glass due to the adherence of soot and the impurities in the sand that would be mixed in the glass.

I like the moses out of Battle BC more. RRRRRR!!![]()

Why's the guy making such a big deal out of sheep entrails, it's like he never ate meat before...
Either way, isn't it more miraculous that ONE guy led a huge group of Israelites past the friken Egyptian army, dodging rains of fire along the way. Isn't it amazing how he knew the EXACT time and date of an incoming tsunami so that his people may cross an entire sea while the water is receding, then conveniently drown the Egyptian army as the water sweeps back... How manly is it that he actually had the balls to climb up an ERUPTING volcano while smoke is covering the skies and lava is pouring throughout...

er, no?
since its so hard to see fire falling from the sky?dodging rains of fire along the way.
how is it amazing? if he was wondering along the coast and the waters started to recead then of course he would go across. He needed to know nothing about the incomeing tsunami. The Egyptians drowning is a bit lucky, but so what?Isn't it amazing how he knew the EXACT time and date of an incoming tsunami so that his people may cross an entire sea while the water is receding, then conveniently drown the Egyptian army as the water sweeps back
salt water toxic fumes? who knows? besides the valcano had been erupting for days and they had been going to it, so its like they were surprised, and if moses thought it was god why should he be afraid?... How manly is it that he actually had the balls to climb up an ERUPTING volcano while smoke is covering the skies and lava is pouring throughout...

Right, because raining lava is probably one of the easiest and safest things to dodge...
Yea you mean he was just at the right place and time with his band of fugitives when volcanic eruptions and tsunamis started appearing out of nowhere?how is it amazing? if he was wondering along the coast and the waters started to recead then of course he would go across. He needed to know nothing about the incomeing tsunami.
You mean the Egyptians never saw a Tsunami before? This is the first time volcanoes and tsunamis started appearing in the area? Even more miraculous then...The Egyptians drowning is a bit lucky, but so what?
Yea I mean who wouldn't be scared of walking up an erupting volcano...salt water toxic fumes? who knows? besides the valcano had been erupting for days and they had been going to it, so its like they were surprised, and if moses thought it was god why should he be afraid?
Tsunami's dont happen frequently and it's not like egytians have channel 5 news. And even if some egytians did witness a tsunami they most likely died and didnt live to tell the tale. You mean the Egyptians never saw a Tsunami before? This is the first time volcanoes and tsunamis started appearing in the area? Even more miraculous then...
Volcano's are one of the main causes for tsunami's so its not really that miraculous to see both at the same time.
who says it was raining directly on them?
yes, he was, and are you saying you know that the strip of exposed land was extremly narrow and hard to find? and how did you get "out of no where" from he was wondering around?Yea you mean he was just at the right place and time with his band of fugitives when volcanic eruptions and tsunamis started appearing out of nowhere?
this makes me wonder how many tsunamis go up the nile, i'd say not many. Also you should stop makeing ridiculous assertions, a few people not seeing an event before dosent mean its never happened before in history. How you managed to reason that to yourself is more miraculous then if that were true. You mean the Egyptians never saw a Tsunami before? This is the first time volcanoes and tsunamis started appearing in the area? Even more miraculous then...
just incase you missed this. And him actually doing it proves he wasnt afraid how again?....Yea I mean who wouldn't be scared of walking up an erupting volcano...

Or it was just bad luck for the egyptians and these nomads took it as divine intervention? intervention sweetened by moses' 'revelations' atop the mountain.
as for Moses, it just means he was crazy enough to go look at an erupting volcano that he'd never seen before. If he came down alive of course people would believe anything he said, people are drawn in by the unexplained and Moses could deliver the only explanation. He could've come down and said "god said to have sex with trees" and his band would believe him.
Interesting video nonetheless

A fairy tale indeed, but I really doubt someone pulled the entire story out of their ass. It all definitely stemmed somewhere, and a nomadic tribe awestruck by something as.. well awesome as a volcanic eruption does make sense.
Ive been convinced it's mostly mythologies and metaphors for a long while now, but if we're ever (as a whole) going to get over taking these stories so literally then finding the facts behind them is incredibly important, for all parties
