Default Brutii troops standing around my Julii home lands. What do I do?

    Hi everyone,

I'm playing as Julii. After several rounds, Brutii troops start standing around on the land of my original territories. Eventually, there are so many of them, and they take up so much space that I can’t even move my troops around. So here are my questions:

How do I prevent that from happening?

Once it starts, how do I get them to stop doing that?

Is there a peaceful way to make them go away?

If I have to fight them away, will that then turn the Senate and the Scipii against me (this is happening even before the Marius reforms)?

    Thanks so much.

I can't think of a way to get rid of them but you certainly should not attack them as that will, as you predicted, cause all the Roman factions to declare war on you.

You shouldn't be able to attack them anyway in the early years. The game prevents you from waging a war until you have popular support.

One way to prevent it from happening is to build forts beneath Ariminum and Arretium to block passage. In my first ever campaign in RTW I was the Brutii and blocked the Julii with forts placed in the lower Gaulish areas. I don't know of any way to stop them, you might be able to bribe them, but I'm not sure as I haven't played a Roman faction in a while. Attacking them will bring the Scipii and SPQR against you too.

Wow! I've had Roman invasions like what you describe, but never to that magnitude...
I'd agree with Genius: use forts. Failing that, perhaps the "move_character" cheat? Doesn't harm the faction. You could even put those troops in Greece to aid the Brutii and ensure they don't come back!

You could always bribe them, (give yourself extra money for this by a cheat), and then disband them, or send them on a ship and let it sink (by fighting and losing against rebels)

This is kind of far-fetched, but you could ask another faction to attack the Brutii (but they usually do not accept, and if they do, they probably won't even to it).

They probably won't work. I would say rather then cheating just let them be but build forts to block them out. The forts end up being a preventive measure during the civil war too. Otherwise they aren't really a threat to be frank, they just stand there....for some reason.

At least then he could attack them without fear of retribution.

Not to speak that the AI automaticly spawns new Family members if an AI faction is a bit short of them.

Actually, it doesn`t. Try to get rid of all but one of your own family members and then tell when you get an adoption message, a birth or a captain winning an automatically calculated battle and becoming man of the hour.

read again son, and comment then.

When an Ai faction gets short on FM, the next turn you will see some new ones for them. When i was trying to murder out the senate, and there was only one person left, the next turn they had 5 new ones. Unfortuantly the same doesnt apply for youw own faction

that's the reason i stopped playing Rome. not enough FM, and family members who become so easily corrupt

Take revenge, march with your troops in their lands and form a circle around their Capital! Surely that must annoy them.

P.S. Would you please point out if I make any grammatical or spelling errors? It would be very much appreciated. I will rep+ you if you can also explain the error to me.

Yeah, especially when it seemed I was getting close to the civil war (I never got to it b/c I lost the save file), they were all over my territory, even though we were all still friendly.

Building forts sounds like a cool idea. I tried blocking a passage with peasants and that didn't work, they still go through so maybe forts will work.

I can bribe people from allied countries? I didn't know that. I'll give that a try too. Their loss is my gain.

And I don't mind assassinating. I'll have to see what happens if the attempt fails. Will they then turn against me? Or is assassin's country of origin never identified?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I can't wait to try these. I'll let you know how it goes.

If the assasination attempt fails and the assasin survives/gets killed...the attacked country will have worse relations with you.
