Default Hello! (A few noobish questions... Sorry.)

Hey guys! I am new to the forums, and to this mod in particulair. (Amazing job KK, I must say. I am 100% jealous of your work. )

I have played as a few factions in this mod: Kievan Rus (I love the history behind this force, so I love them automatically. I also think you did a fantastic job with the models and colouring. Perfect. ^_^) Denmark (whom I have recently been very attracted to, they seem to be really good.) And of course my favourite of all Scotland. (Yay Pikes! =D)

I was wondering a few things, such as:

I want to do a Scandanavia campaign, but I have no clue which to be... Denmark or Norway. I personally like Norway's flag and colour's a weeee bit more then Denmarks, but the main thing is I love the Danish military. How much different are the two militaries? What is Norway's "special" unit? I know Denmarks are those Halbaldier guys... (Name escapes me right now...) And what does it mean when it says Norways "Lacks professional armies?" I never understood what that meant...

Is the only difference between the two, that Norway uses swords compared to Denmarks Axes and Maces? So Denmark is good against Armour and Norway is not? Also can Norway recruit the Clergy guys from the city as well? If so, what are the differences?

Another question I have is: Are the crusades hard coded? I was wondering this, because I wanted to make it so the Orthodox's can call crusades as well. Because if I am not mistaken, it was the Pope in Constantinople who called the First (I think) crusade.... But I may be wrong on that one!

Sorry for all the typing! All answers are greatly appriciated! (Also, if the answer can be done easier by links instead of explaining, thats great too. ^_^ I looke dfor hours for unit rosters, I could not find any though. ><)

    Thanks again!

    Welcome to the forums Vladimir

The rosters of Norway and Denmark are very similar, with only a few differences. To check out which units they have, check the online database: http://totalwar.honga.net/faction.php?v=ss6&encode=en

Norway's special unit is the Royal Hirdsmen (sword infantry). And yes they can recruit Norse War Clerics

The crusades are unfortunately hardcoded. We cannot script when or where they are called.

Thank you for the welcome and the link! Very helpful indeed!

Ahhh, that is unfortunate. It would of been cool having the third party in the crusades. Ahhhh, ohhhh well. ^_^

    Thanks again!

It was Pope Urban II (of the Papacy) that did call for the crusade, at the request of Byzantine Emperor Alexius I. Though had Alexius had any control over the crusaders it would have been to fight the Seljuk Turks in Anatolia, rather than to reclaim Jerusalem.

The Pope took advantage of Alexius appeal for assistance to rally Catholics, and though Alexius was looking for nothing more than a few armies of professional troops, they got a whole lot more in the form of the People's Crusade. Eventually though Professional troops did show up.

Although it might make sense for atleast the Byzantines to call a crusade to Anatolia, it all came down to the Pope of the Papacy who spread that word, and directed it to the Papacy's benefit.
