It could be that there is a simple fix to the latest money and politics scandal. Simply ban MP's from second jobs. Do you think this would fix the problem?

Either way this highlights that at the moment the tax payer doesn't stand a chance, our views are second to whoever is willing to line an MP's pocket. Some freedom, some democracy and some representation

Brazil is definitely more corrupt but they are generally not considered "Western World' no?

Oh this has been discussed. I think generally when speak of the "West" they refer mostly to first world, liberal states, latin america even Brazil is still somewhat a "developing second world nation" even if they are not considered "third world".

going around some of their cities, i think many parts are first world. it's just as any nation they just need money and less corrupt government/better government. Brazil has such a large potential.

Try to explain me this: If England is Western and the US is Western, what's the point in Portugal being Western and Brazil not being Western?

I mean... Brazil's culture is mainly a mixture between the Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Pole and African culture. Isn't the US pretty much the same thing?

Western usually connotes the countries in the west, France, UK, Germany, Italy etc.. America and Canada are usually included too as they have heritages connecting them to Britain or the 'West' Brazil is poor and as of thus is refered to as a Less Economically Developed state. Most people would just say Latin though, as most countries within Latin America are unfourtunatly quite poor and some even corrupt, Colombia being a good example.

Most corrupt? Are you joking? Just look at France and what some presidents get up to while they're immune to prosecution.

Some of the least corrupt. In France MPs expenses are completely secret, and far larger. In America their lobbying operation makes our cabs for hire look like rickshaws. In Italy sex is good currency for political office.

Compare all this to out MPs - poor, regulated, boring, grey and ugly. It's a pretty good set up.

Its obviously not a good situation- but compared to some other places (I am looking at Italy) its certainly not the worst.
