I want to talk music and voices. A successful game must be a joy for The eye, the brain and the ears. In my opinion, this is the most accomplished mod out there, it’s awesome to play, to watch, however I feel that the music and overall sounds have room for improvement. First of all, you are already using some of the music in the films, while most of the music is vanilla medieval, so I ask: Why not tap the well of music that is in the trilogy, because there is an unprecedented amount of excellent music. Campaign wise, you got theme music for almost all the different factions, I was outright surprised you have not used the “Riders of Rohan theme song” for rohan’s campaign map. That song is so epic it gives you shivers. I guess what I am saying is that although this mod have done good in including some sounds from the movie, I feel it can do much more in catching that “lord of the rings” feel if you include some of the more recognisable songs like “riders of rohan” “Concerning Hobbits” “Minas Tirith” “ A Knife in the Dark” (best battle song^^) And so I come to general voices.. I feel the voice actors have done a tremendous job on those units that have unique sounds.. but its half finished. For example, the voice acting for me is a big factor in deciding witch faction I am going to play. To have my entire High Elf army respond with the infamous: HEEEAAVVYY IINNNFANTRIIE” each time I click them, can be a bit tedious, so I go with a faction like the dwarfs or gondor, were even a unimportant unit like Pelagir Marines have two different sounds.. So what do you think? Does the mod need more music, and in case, what, where?
We've been over this a 1000 times. It's illegal to use commercial songs to such large extent. The LoTR soundtrack is still on sale and will be for a long time I expect. It's not freeware.
There's a tutorial in the tech section on how you can implement your own music into the mod. It's a bit of a pain but not too hard to figure out.
And don't bother saying, "Well, all the music is on u-tube anyway and we all know those vids can be downloaded/converted". It's not that simple and copyright laws don't conform to what seems to "make sense" to the average user.

DAC will have it's own music composed and we try to give it a lotr feeling as much as we can.
For example: elven music will contain a 'poem' translated to sindarin and sung by a virtual choir.
Copyrights shouldn't indeed be broken and the tatw team has done a good job by not implenting the lotr music in their game.
That are only short clips.
As far as I know you can use little pieces, but not much.
allright just curious since i'm working on the weathertop and i'm probably gonna make a small vid for the grey havens to don't want to go all illegal on you guys
I often heard up to 30 seconds are allowed- Don`t know if this is true.
i always thought everything was copyrighted, also small stuff.. it's more of a question if they look the other way or sue your ass.. but i guess they don't mind a lot as long as there is not an aiming for profit
There's a program called Final BIG that can extract the files from the .big extension files in the program files/BFMEII folder. It's free, so just download it and enjoy the music! The music from BFMEII is really good, I especially like the ones for the dwarves (one song of which is actually in the mod)
If only 30 seconds are allowed, how come almost the whole track 10 of the first soundtrack (The Council of Elrond, Featuring Aníron) is included in the elven campaign music?
Third Age:TW has ripped pretty much everything from the films so far, I don't see how taking some more music from the films would hurt. Dreamfall:The Longest Journey had some awesome music that would go really well in this mod however. The voice acting for the units in the mod was made by the Fourth Age:TW team I believe.
Just give credit where credit is due, no one is going to sue KK or any user of TATW over music from the lotr soundtrack. Especially considering this is a free non project profit. It would be like suing students who use music in powerpoint presentations.

Students have an educational version of the copyright to follow as well. They have more time allotted, if I remember correctly, but still have to follow the guidelines.
