Cities and buildings have disappeared??

My game worked fine until one day I loaded my saved game and all the cities (mine and the computer's) on the world map had disappeared along with all the other buildings like docks, churches, farms, etc.

The flags where the cities are are still there, but as for the resources I have to blindly click around the spot I think they are from memory. The cities and buildings are still there but they don't appear on the map.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Yeah, it was right after I updated too. Seeing as no one's found a solution, maybe this work-around I found might help.

Start a game (or load a saved game) and press escape and click Options and then Graphics. On this page, check the box that says "Run in Window". Once the game reloads, your cities and buildings will be back. Although you will have to play the game in a window, if you try to change back to full screen they'll disappear again.

This isn't a perfect solution, I have come across a few problems with this, but nothing serious. You may find that after a while your cities & buildings might disappear again (this only happened to me once) or the map will freeze when moving around but the city names and the tooltips will continue to move and leave "trails" over the screen (this seems to happen more often, about 2 or 3 times each gaming session). In either case, there's a couple of quick & easy solutions. Either save the game and load it back up or go into the Graphics Options again, uncheck Run in Window and when it asks you if you want to keep the changes click cancel. I have found that the map freezing problem seems to happen when I'm in a rush and clicking between maps and scrolling around quickly, so try to wait a second or two when you switch between maps before you scroll around.

The only other problem is that you have to play in a window and you can't resize it. It's a pain having to move it so you can see the bottom buttons. Sometimes the start bar will appear and obscure the buttons, but I just did the same thing as I did above and it disappears again.

As you can see, it's not a great solution. But what was in this update to cause this?
