Game won't run.

The game literally does not run. I click it and wait several minutes, but absolutely nothing happens. No window opens, it just stays at Steam. I have reinstalled the game, restarted the computer... what's wrong?

I uninstalled Steam and reinstalled with the "Get Steam Now" button on the website, I assume that is the latest client... no change. Nothing happens whatsoever.

you will clean the pc: go donwload ccleaner (just google it) and run the cleanning options, now after this, you will install and download the steam program again.

No, I'm not experiencing any crashes. The game just doesn't open. It's as simple as that. Nothing happens at all...

Does your firewall/antivirus have it blocked until you give it permission? Mine does.

I can run other games on steam... how do I tell/give it permission?

In Zone Alarm, Its under Program Control/ Programs.

I also read at .com one player had to get into the Steam folder and give napoleon.exe "Run as Admin" before it would work.

Yes, I do meet the requirements... I tried running it via start menu and a window popped up saying it was missing some file that was a combination of random numbers and letters, and to reinstall the program... I'm trying again... X(

What file does it say you are missing?

" The program can't start because d3dx9_40.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I did reinstall.

EDIT: Now it crashes whenever I start a European campaign... X(

Now it can be the scripts need to catch up. Delete the scripts folder and verigy your game cache to make sure something else isn't missing.
