    Default Most frustating unit

    The cavalry in MEII (not blaming the mod) must be the most frustrating unit in the game. In Rome Total War it seemed so easy you told them to go somewhere they went, you told them to charge they charged. Now they seem to do anything but what you want.

    When you do get it right it can be very nice to see them sending trolls flying or charging into the back of that stubborn unit and making them rout. But so often this does not happen. If you tell them to go somewhere fast they decide its a nice day for a stroll and amble off to the place where you want them to go. If you tell them to charge a unit they trot slowly up to the unit and die quickly in melee.

    The only unit that must come close to cavalry is the catapults who decided that the next fireball they fire will not be at the distant enemy but at your best unit stood 10 ft away.

    Are there any other units which make you swear at computer in frustration

    With cavalry you have to learn a few tricks to make them obey . The first is to be sure to re-give any order within few second of the previous. This is important especially when your cavalry is engaged in melee and you want them to disengage. The second is to use the keyboard shortcut (for me it's "H") to make them run/charge whenever they insist on walking.

    Personally I find skirmisher archer units irritating sometimes when you forget to turn their skirmish mode off in the beginning of the battle. Even though they be safe behind my infantry line, they stop firing and start running when the enemy line clashes to mine.

    they run when enemy close in a certain range so it has nothing to do with whether they have ally in front of them or not.

    i never turn on the skirmish mode as i hate breaking my lines.

    same here

    I want everything under my control on the battlefield...

    before I used this "skirmish mode", but everytime they ran away from my main lines just so they became eaten by enemy cavalry or faster infantry.

    Obviously. But the thing is that skirmishers have skirmish on from the very beginning. So my point was that when I forget to turn it off happens the obvious when the enemy comes too close.

    When i try to flank infantry with infantry and my troops run on a long line so they get stuck in the fighting on the wrong side.

    there's a shortcut to force cavalary charge?!?

    i never knew that, in this mod, MOST OF THE TIME they actually charge by me simply telling them to (from a long distance), altough i hate it when they just take a walk in the park till they reach the enemy, then they simply fall, since their attack sucks...

    in stainless steel i noticed this happens A LOT more often, and i've started to play that mod again, and i could really use this "god-sent shortcut"

    Hit "Alt" key while double clicking on target; you should see your cavalry switch from swords to lancers/spears. If you observe your cavalry engaging the enemy with sword in-hand they aren't charging and you should abandon engaging your target and try again.

    O.O never seen that trick!

    Anyway, my most annoying problem is the same of Furga: flanking units go stuck because a few men collide with the unit they are flanking.
    It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

    Not always. For example Nazqul bodyguard only have their swords and also charge with them.

    i hate it when i have archers in skirmish mode and they are attacked by infantry and instead of runing away instantly they start then stop then start again until the infantry reaches them and kills half of them. they seem unwilling to run away.
    this has destroyed several of my sallies

    No, that shortcut will make them only run/walk- It won`t force them to charge..

    And alt doesn`t help much either. You have to order their attack from a certain distance and they will run/walk up to the enemy and then they`ll charge.

    Also make sure your game is 1.05 version as charge was mainly broken in previous versions.

    No, it wasn`t. Till 3 weeks ago i played 1.3 and charging worked like a charm. (It does still.)

    Please take time to read posts more carefully before posting. As I already stated make sure your MTWII game is at v1.05 as this is the latest version.

    I just stated that charging worked fine even without the 1.5 patch.

    And I say that it is impossible to play TATW with 1.3 as that is regular M2TW. Kingdoms is either 1.4 or 1.5.

    I play Rome Total War 1.5 Version i think the Peasants are annoying there to weak and boring would love to know how to make them more exciting with diffrent weapons
