Default Aero problem with Windows 7

Hey I just realized that something seems to be wrong with the desktop on my new install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I installed yesterday and it was fine but today there are two things wrong that i noticed, the taskbar isn't transparent, and i can't see the previews of the programs i have opened. I tried troubleshooting in control panel but it said it didn't found a problem, the PC has a base score of 5.9 and i already activated my copy of windows 7. I Any ideas what settings i need to edit?

EDIT:Tried the force hack, didn't work.

This is how it looks now:

I want it to look like normal, back to the aero style, like this:

How can I edit the settings so it looks like that again?

EDIT: I found something strange in the registry. There is a last line that says "LastDisqualifiedCompositionSignature" and it's value is "1fa400". Is this causing the problem? i tried deleting it but it appears again.

I've already done that, and i got a score of 5.9 but still nothing, i tried restarting my PC afterward but nothing. Also there is one thing that i have found weird, when i try to turn on transparancy and click on "WIndow Color" i get the wrong settings screen, even though the theme selected is under the Aero themes. I updated my driver yesterday to the NVIDIA 197.13 64bit. I have a Zotac 285 GTX. I also just tried the force hack and it didn't work.

if you use the search bar in the windows7 start bar to search for "aero" there seems to be a program designed specifically to troubleshoot aero problems - you might want to try that.

That was the first thing I did, unfortunately it didn't work. All it says is:
    Troubleshooting couldn't identified the problem.

It was fine yesterday when i installed the OS but today it appear like that when i turned it on.

I don't know anything about Windows. My only suggestion would be the usual one, reinstall.

Drama Queen. But to be fair a reinstall of Windows 7 isn't actually that big job if he hasn't installed all of his applications before hand.

A simple system restore ended up fixing this problem, he was using the video card drivers that were supplied to him on the disc and this was what was causing the problem (he reinstalled the same driver after the restore which replicated the problem) he is now be using the latest drivers from NVIDIA. I can only assume there's a bug with the version of the drivers supplied to him on that disc with Aero effects.

Yep that did it. It was strange though, but glad that's over.

Try rolling back your video driver because the drivers they give you on the disc sometimes stuff up Win7. Uninstall your NVIDIA drivers and then re-download them
