Default What graphics you use to play RTR

Just finished installing FOE and so far I like it. I really like the skins and unit cards. What GPU do you guys have? Right now I'm using the 1900xt 512MB from ATI, and it does a pretty good job for being like 4-5 years old. I can play M2TW maxed out . I have all stats maxed out in FOE too, and it handles pretty well. The only time it gets laggy is when there are full stacks fighting and your all the way zoomed out. A lot to process, but when you zoom in at the battle its fine. I'm going to upgrade my GPU soon, just would like to know what you guys are running. Over all great game, and can't wait for GC.

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT. I have all settings on the max ingame, except for Anti-Aliasing which I control via the NVIDIA control pannel because it is extremely slow if done via RTW

First of all, great to hear that you're enjoying the game!

    I'm using a NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT (1GB).

Pat, do you know what's the difference between 9600 and 9800? Is yours better?

No idea... But I think the higher the number the newer the card... (doesn't necessarily mean better of course)

Yeah just because the number is higher, doesn't mean the card is better. The 8800gt is said to be one of the top NVIDIA card, and it's 2-3 years old. I'm going to be upgrading so I can play ETW, but until then the Roman empire is at my mercy . lol

    (Patricians,)

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 ultimate, everthing very high and on, but if you say that the anti-aliasing doing by the game is slow, how can you use anti-alising without turn it on?

If you are dutch (moet je antialiasing via NVIDIA-configuratiescherm, en dan by 3D-instellingen beheren,
en dan bij de Algemene instellingen wijzigen?
and which Antialaising have I to put on?
    Of bij programma's of zo?

    (thanks for the help!)

A hint: look for the nicest people on the forums, and most will have a nice red-white-blue flag in their siggie

p.s. Maybe I'm the only exception

Just joking, but why would you ask when you could easily see it in the signature? We put those flags there for this very purpose.

I'm playing with max graphics and only lags when the enemy brings a huge spam of phalangies to a battle. I've got a GT240.

I'm using two NVIDIA GTX 295's in SLI mode, which allows me to play with all the settings maxed out. The graphics are incredible but, to be honest, the fps isn't much faster than my old 8800GT (best bang for the buck ever!). RTW is an old game so I guess it can't really take full advantage of a modern multicore rig.

(btw) It does matter if you have a good or bad processor, so i have i5, and i only lack (lag) with evertime maxed on if I put the (max) speed putton on. > or >>

That is not lag iirc, that is just the laptop/pc jumping frames due to the speed setting, or something like that anyway

I'm not sure if that is the case, C. On my i7, double and triple time runs smoothly enough on battles of a half stack, or less, but triple time is quite choppy at the full stack level.

I really just meant that it wasnt a bug, I reckon the processor is working out the next few frames but only shows a few to give the effect of being speeded up, thats why its quite choppy. If you have a better processor, you get less of this effect. Trust me, I had an AMD Athlon processor until recently and my i5 is like a ferrari compared to the old one
