    Default Normans (England) V.S Sicily

The one frustrating part about Medievals units is that although both sicily and england both had invasions and settlement by the normans why do Sicilians get the benefit of having the norman warriors. Being roughly 75% Norman, I feel that England should have Norman units as well. Does anyone else feel the same? or why do you think they don't?

I think that England should not have Norman soldiers due to the fact that Willam the Conquerer claimed England as his own country. Now if you were born there back then and called yourself an English man, you shouldn't fight as a Norman knight, you would fight as an English knight.

Good question, after pacifying England, a lot of those knights were granted titles and lands, and they did settled down in England. Also a lot of norman knights went for the crusade with Robert of Normandy and stayed in the Holy Lands. There are those who did left for the Sicilian kingdom.

But England did keep a strong force of Knights, if not norman knights, they were called "anglo-normans" they were their main battle force, if I am not mistaken, until after the wars of independance of Scotland in the beginning of the 14th century.

Under the King Edward III, the longbowmen were made the main battle force of England with the knights putted more on the rear/flanks, the role of the English knights did changed a lot in that era. I hope it helps.

England is a pretty good faction as it is. Their two weaknesses are the lack of long spear/pike units and their knights, while pretty good, are slightly behind some of their mainland counterparts. By giving them Norman Knights for example you would give them heavy cavalry on a par with other factions. Give them a pike unit and you then have a faction with no weaknesses.

Maybe the game designers thought that would make England too strong by giving them norman knights simply.
