Conservative and Liberal.

I find it more and more common that anyone who is Liberal is Far Left and anyone who is Conservative is a Far Right Extremist.
What happend to not throwing out the words Far Right and Far Left whenever we disagree.
Both are being overused and exagerated.

For examples:
You oppose the Obama Admistration and join a Tea Party and suddenly you are called a Far Right Extremist because of the actions of a few nutjobs within the Tea Party.
You support Obama for President in the presidential elections and oppose conservativism and you are called a Far Left Extremist.
Its as if its Impossible to be a Conservative or Liberal without being an Extremist.

Both sides are so very guilty of it and each side blaming one side for being worse on this only helps keep this going longer.
The fact is there is conservatives in the Tea Party movement who make up the majority of it and liberals who made up the majority of the Obama movement a few years ago.
The lone actions of a few people who cross the line shouldnt paint a whole movement or ideology as extremist.

How are Liberals and Conservatives supposed to get along when we get too caught up in the fighting of words and political charges against each others movements.
Both sides a number of times just like to call each other wackos, nutjobs, extremists, far left, far right for just the fact they disagree with them and think so harsh of each other.
This is what I really hate about american politics and I also find myself guilty as well with getting caught up in it. Things are getting worse in this country in terms of both sides being more hostile to each other.

For that Matter I will be friends with people whom I disagree politically if we are able to discuss other topics of common interest or jokingly make fun of each others side's political steriotype as means to humor each other. Some friends of mine or family members have been known to be "Gay" and were able to get along despite differences.

Who thinks we should agree to disagree and try to work our differences better ?
Not just in here but towards people we see in real life.

For that matter its simply wrong for me to ignore someone because of Politics.

That's because only a few people don't realise that using labels such as "conservative" and "liberal" don't really describe anything sufficiently and certainly never solve anything productively. You can instantly point out the problem poster in a thread by the person who is attacking things and people he doesn't like by calling them the political persuasion opposed to the one he perceives as his own.

The sooner America abandons the liberal-conservative paradigm the better. It's far too insufficient in describing one's political perspective.

I think part of the problem is that America effectively has only 2 parties; 1 conservative, one liberal. (I know there are others, but they never actually accomplish anything so they don't really count.) In order to be in a party with any real chance the moderate liberal/conservative must join ranks with the wing-nuts. If we had 4 "real" political parties (2 conservative, 2 liberal) then I think that the two moderate ones could compromise on some issues and the threat that either the two liberal or two conservative ones would band together on any issue would add extra pressure for the weaker moderate party to seek agreement from the other moderate party.
