Default Gaining the Knight (Banneret) Trait

I have a problem with my generals not being promoted after Knight (Ritter). I currently play as Scottland and have a general with fifteen years campaign experience and he is still only a Ritter. He also commanded during two heroic victories (thats the crossed swords on the campaign map, right?)

I've looked across the Deus Lo Vult section and I can't find anyone else that has this problem. I started another campaign with ireland and have the same problem.

Is there anyone that knows what to do concerning this?

Restart campaign is what I do when that happens. It's the first thing I check when I load a campaign, to see if they got ranked or not. I think I've gone 60+ turns without realising it before... I wish someone would fix it.

That did it. Now that my generals can gain rank, this game has become digital crack!

I've often experienced the royal family not gaining these traits, at the moment, I've just started an England campaign and Prince Richard cannot recruit knights

I'm having the same problem as Mr.Hyde.I started a Byzantine campaign and the only ones not having the title comes(equivalent of knight) were the faction leader and the heir.I left the leader at Constantinople and he started gaining the magistrat titles so I thought ok with this one but as for the heir i sent him to hunt rebels and after 7 years campaigning and although he took part in 12-13 battles (manual says 11+ battles 100% chance of promotion) he is still untitled.I read this post and I started a new campaign and another and another and then I even started a french campaign in case there was a problem with the byzantine faction but still no title for the faction leader/heir...What am I doing wrong? Is there a way for the royal family to gain these titles?

P.S. One more question, is it possible for a character to have both military and governor titles?

as far as I know, the heir and king don't gain experience as far as knighthood goes...
