    Default weathertop mod help :)

    Hello people,

    I'm currently trying to implement weathertop.. and i'm making progress.. i started on implementing the event movie.. i'm almost done with this however i came across a problem regarding the scripting

    i see this code: 91 243 5 10 , i know the first 2 are the coordinates but what are the last 2? this is about the campaign script

    another question i have is the fact that with bin editor i can't convert the word historic event file to a txt string.. does anyone has a solution for this?

    i know many of the tutorials but these are not sufficient for the answers as far as i know..

    thanks in advance and i hope someone can help me with this i'll keep on trying

    It would make it quite easier to answer your question, if you would tell us of which file you're speaking
    descr_regions.txt?

    You don't have to convert txt files back to txt.string files.

    ow off course stupid of me.. i was talking about the campaign_script.. here i'm implementing the reach_weathertop event

    ow why is there a historic_event file and a historic_event.txt.strings file then? i didn't convert them at all.. i had both already so i wondered where the thx.strings was for?

    thx for your quick response

    The .strings.bin are used as a spreadsheet, but actually not needed if you have set your .cfg file to
    [io]
    file_first = true

    I see, I suggest you download and use the M2TW Ultimate Docudemons 4.0
    It definitely is a must have for every scripter

    Identifier: IsPositionInRect
    Trigger requirements: sm_position
    Parameters: left top [width height]
    Sample use: IsPositionInRect 5 10 40 140
    Description: Test is a tile in specified rectangular area?
    Battle or Strat: Strat
    Class: IS_POSITION_IN_RECT

    all right i got the first part.. for the second part i really don't get it.. i have this so far.. it's copied and adjusted from the shire.. so i think i have done it right so far :

    monitor_event TileSeen not FactionType turks
    and FactionIsLocal
    and IsPositionInRect 140 242 1 1
    historic_event reached_weathertop event/reached_weathertop.bik
    terminate_monitor
    end_monitor

    the 140 and 242 are the coordinates.. but the 1 & 1 i don't know.. those are the width and height i guess?

    Yep they are. So the monitor is actually correct -if you used tab not spaces- but I do not know if the width and height are set correct with "1 1".

    it's a single tower.. the shire was 5 by 10.. so i figured it to be much smaller.. i don't exactly know how it works.. maybe it's to exact?

    Just check it ingame. Place the cursor above your chosen tile, open the console and type "show_cursorstat" without quotation marks.

    Just open your Third_Age.bat and change it to:

    Third_Age.bat cd ..\..
    start kingdoms.exe @mods\Name_of_your_folder\TATW.cfg

    Then open your TATW.cfg and change it to:
    TATW.cfg
    TATW.cfg
    editor = true
    mod = mods/Name_of_your_folder

    [io]
    file_first = true

    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.Name_of_your_submod.txt
    level = * trace
    ;level = * error

    hmm ok the game starts.. i opened a new game.. didn't know how to open command so i just walk with elrond.. when i get near.. i get a unspecified error and the game quits.. something is wrong..

    don't get it though i made:

    - weatherop reached bik > tempory renamed the lothlorien one and pasted it in the FMV map
    - changed the script as showed above just pasted that text into it and put the script in the correct folder
    - changed the historic events file with these lines ..
    {REACHED_WEATHERTOP_BODY}Weathertop.. Once the great watchtower of Amon Sul, now a remnant of the second age and the lost kingdom of Arnor. Although it's glory is long gone, it's foundations remained through the ages. It is said that the tower of Amon Sul contained the strongest of the seven palantíri with which Gondor could be contacted in times of need. After many battles over the watchtower of Amon Sul it was finally burned down by the dark forces of Angmar in the year 1409 of the third age..

    Just hit ~ key in the english version or open your setting, keyboard settings and check for it.
    Then hit it, type "toggle_fow" (reveals the map) then do as described above.

    Please .rar or .zip -or whatever compressing-program you might use- your system.log and attach it to your post, so I can have a look at the error code.

    i figured the toggle out just before you posted.. i changed the coordinates already in the orignally modded file cause i was a bit of the lore placement of weathertop.. but that's not important now..

    while changing the data to make the game work.. i wasn't aloud to change the site of the log.text.. i managed however to find the following 2 in my appl. data medieval folder.. Attachment 81069

    Attachment 81070

    Uhm, have you edited the TATW.cfg the way described above? Of course it shows that you've set it on trace, but it is very short for a logfile set on trace, extremely short so to say

    You found it, it was the system.log.txt you posted, but it was rather short for a log set on trace.
    Usually a log set on trace is around 12-14 mb of uncompressed text. Compressed it's much smaller of course.
    Since you're using windows7 its totally normal that it is saved in users\username\appdata\local\virtualstore\medieval 2 total war or something like this, the same with vistax64 btw... so don't worry about this
    Have a good night

    I'm at work atm. so I can't have a look at it.
    The logfile was right, but it was not it's full lenght, to solve the problem your full logfile will be very helpful.
    In the meanwhile, please use a clean copy of TA:TW and find out about the precise coordinate, height and widht by doing as described above using toggle_fow and show_cursorstat.

    how do i get a full logfile then if i may ask? this was all i had

    i found the correct coordinates yesterday and they are stated in the version i send you.. i pinpoint them with looking for a loresuggested spot (maps indicate different places around weahtherhills) but i don't know how to pinpoint the exact hight/width.. those last 2 numbers again .. cursor stat just says the 2 coordinates and the region number

    i'm a work also and look into it later again
