Today, we can reveal the nature of CA's next project. The title for the next entry in the highly acclaimed Total war series is: Rome- Total Diplomacy.
Asked why the team involved had taken such an about turn in content, CA's boss Michael Simpson said: ''Well, we feel we've had enough of total war. I mean, it's just the same game, over and over again, in different points in history. So, seeing as many criticised the diplomatic aspects of Rome Total War, we decided to go back in time and make a more realistic game, just cutting out the battles and warfare completely- in fact, they are something the aim of the game is to stop! This should make for a completely different style of game.''
The nature of the actual gameplay remains a closely guarded secret- but CA have released this statement: ''We are sure that the gameplay of Rome- Total Diplomacy will be as revolutionary as that of Rome- Total War.''
However, one of our media spies claims to have found information regarding this matter- ''The player may choose a faction, limited to those in the roman world, and then plays as a diplomat, similar to the style of an RPG. They then work to prevent wars with other factions, and can give gifts to other nations to secure their loyalty. One can also pay assasins to 'get rid of' potential war mongerers. The peace loving citizens often call for an end to war, and you can help organise demonstations. The game also includes more modern day realism- including things like unions, which have to be negociated with. ''
We can reveal some exclusive box art for the new game today, the game's mascot- BBCus Caesar, and some concept art of the Roman Player Character and a demonstation by the people of Rome.
No word on how this may affect the future of the Total War... or Total Diplomacy series.
