    Default Rome: Total Diplomacy

Today, we can reveal the nature of CA's next project. The title for the next entry in the highly acclaimed Total war series is: Rome- Total Diplomacy.

Asked why the team involved had taken such an about turn in content, CA's boss Michael Simpson said: ''Well, we feel we've had enough of total war. I mean, it's just the same game, over and over again, in different points in history. So, seeing as many criticised the diplomatic aspects of Rome Total War, we decided to go back in time and make a more realistic game, just cutting out the battles and warfare completely- in fact, they are something the aim of the game is to stop! This should make for a completely different style of game.''

The nature of the actual gameplay remains a closely guarded secret- but CA have released this statement: ''We are sure that the gameplay of Rome- Total Diplomacy will be as revolutionary as that of Rome- Total War.''

However, one of our media spies claims to have found information regarding this matter- ''The player may choose a faction, limited to those in the roman world, and then plays as a diplomat, similar to the style of an RPG. They then work to prevent wars with other factions, and can give gifts to other nations to secure their loyalty. One can also pay assasins to 'get rid of' potential war mongerers. The peace loving citizens often call for an end to war, and you can help organise demonstations. The game also includes more modern day realism- including things like unions, which have to be negociated with. ''

We can reveal some exclusive box art for the new game today, the game's mascot- BBCus Caesar, and some concept art of the Roman Player Character and a demonstation by the people of Rome.

No word on how this may affect the future of the Total War... or Total Diplomacy series.

Nah, It's from the BBC's adaptation of 'julius caesar'. They did all the shakespere plays in the... 70s I think.

Oh, and what's rep? How do I use it?

    Seems lame to me.

If it was some kind of RPG of you creating your own soldier and getting stronger and fighting in huge battles where thousands of soldiers were involved and u get various missions during the fight by your commander and u can get gold after each fight, to even hire your own military soldiers or buy the materials for new, greater weapons, you may even rebel against your leader and as you fight you can climb up the military ranks of the faction you chose to play as, or even conquer the world if you get a huge number of key victories.

Now that would be a good game

Actually, I would totally play it! Okay, perhaps all peace would be too much, but using diplomacy to become the superpower of the ancient world...

Is this some joke...they would not make an rpg. I don't believe it, no matter how bonafied the references may be. If CA makes a game without having you command armies in the field of battle, I will be 50 dollars or so richer the day the game goes on the market.

I can't believe some people are taking this seriously? Honestly, I tried to make the pictures look as fake and silly as possible, and you're still telling me that you don't like the idea!?

Oh, and Grim, what is rep? How can you give it to someone?

Rep is what you give someone when you like what they posted. It's just a way of saying thanks for being awesome

I think you can give it after 25 posts or something but when you do get it you should see it underneath everyones avatar at the left side of their post as a green circle with a white plus sign in the middle. If you click on your own posts green circle then you should see what people have given you rep for and how many have

lmfao. I'd play it and it'd probably be more entertaining than Rome vanilla.

Kind of makes me sad that this is all a big joke.

Really? Wow, I've hit upon a good idea.

LOL, it would probably be more historically accurate than RTW! (as we know, the citizens of rome were a pacifist bunch, and hated war and violence above all else.)
