Default About laws, legislations and everything in between

From the thread about anarchy your faithfully has created not long ago.

I thought the most important issue was the freedom of the people to go about their day unmolested, the protection of citizens.

Not the persecution of people for victimless crimes, the criminalisation of which almost certainly led to the creation of the aforementioned criminal class. Populist issue the war on drugs, yet responsible for up to 85% of burglaries in areas, a large amount of mental health, health issues and a large amount of prison space.

As for the rest? Well everyone will still want protection from murder and rape, and they will have it if they want it. Humans are pretty ingenious.

If your really interested I'd suggest reading or asking some more knowledgeable people than me.
This sparks an issue in my head: The question of laws in the modern and post-modern society. A few questions I'd like to ask:

    - Is law a necessity or a luxury i.e. is it possible that an arbitrarily large society be founded without the basis of law?
    - Does law require an united body to execute i.e. is law a possibility in a multigovernmental/government-less society?
    - Does law have to be (unnecessarily, as in the Tax Law of Australia with 7000 (!) pages of legislation) long and very detailed?

    Discuss.

Without law, how do we define limits of acceptable behavior?
Leave it to people? Well, then we can ask how society like that could condemn pedophiles, who do not see their actions as wrong...

Again, what would take place when these groups would disagree?
If both groups of argument would agree that they follow rulings of one organ, it is simple. But if they TOO disagree?

    What is undetailed?
Vague, that is what it is.

If you want simplistic law, let's have only one law. "Do no wrong"
Covers every possible situation in it's beautiful simplicity, and even with differences in languages you cannot get much beyond couple dozen pages even if you print single letter in single page.

But hey... How do you define "wrong" then?

Purpose of law is to be uniformly applied to everyone. Everyone is equal before the law.
This cannot happen if laws are made vague and wide open for interpretation as one pleases.

As for "victimless" crimes. What are actually "victimless" crimes?
Using drugs is commonly referred as one. But how many people who fall into use of drugs are able to continue productive and useful life?

Let's forget various celebrities who snort some coke and then go do their publicity stunts. Their "work" is rarely one that requires too much of them.

Have for example an engineer snort up same amount of coke and let us see how well he performs in his job. And if his job just happens to be crucial for well being of people...

Everyone is warhero, genius and millionaire in Internet, so don't be surprised that I'm not impressed.
