    SP-mods in general
    I started this mod in order to work on different projects. Since my skills are only limited i decided to work on small projects in order to keep things simple, hence the "Small Projects Mod". Since i started this we have had quit some contributions from the community. Yet i'm still looking for volunteers who want to joint us. Teammembers can work on anything they want or make suggestions for new small projects themself. We can use all kinds of specialisms such as lore experts, texturers, modellers, 2d artists, scripters, coders and video artists.

    The purpose of our work is to provide it mainly to other teams so they can use our work and implement it if they wish. Our work will probably also be released on a stand-alone basis. To succeed at our goal we could really use te opinions and suggestions from the viewers so feel free to leave a message.

    All stuff from the Ancillary mod will be shown in the second post of this thread

    Latest developments

    One of the latest developments is the Ancillary Resource Mod. This mod gives modders the oppurtinity to use ancillaries in their mods created by me and other contributors. The latest version has been released as version 2.5. Future versions will contain quests for characters with rewards in the form of ancillaries.

    I also posted some files to make the Event Video Mod and the Free Ancillary Resource Mod compatibel.

    The faction symbols got released


    Event Video Mod
    After playing the game for a long time one of the nicest details i had seen are the eventmovies.. They really add more flavour into the game and make it more versatile.. So I decided to try and implement new stratmapmodels and Event video's into the game and change the current descriptions for the movies..

    Note that this download is for vanilla TATW 2.1 only, however for modders it isn't to hard to make compatible though.

    Download the new factionbanners and symbols here for vanilla 2.1 and/or the ancillary and region video submod right here . These symbols are made by Master Necromancer and Cedric37, so be sure to honour them.




    Ancillaries

    The purpose of this thread is to provide ancillary art to the modders of this community.. I will collect all art from myself and others and post them here for all to see.. Anyone who wants to use them is free to use and or alter them to their own liking. Credits or rep to the creator/providor is always welcome..

    To make it more interesting for the community i will provide the possibility to order your own ancillaries into this collection.. In order to do so, just leave a message with the ancillary you would like to see.. If i have the time, resources and imagination, i will gladly create these new pictures. Ideas can be accompanied with the following layout (to inspire other people):

    Type: For example an item or a person
    Transferable: Yes/No
    Effect: What does the ancillery do
    Trigger: How does a general earn the ancillery
    Description: A small description to go with the ancillery
    Image: An image which could be used for the ancillery

    I also believe feedback is very important.. so valuable feedback will be rewarded with rep+.. Even negative feedback is appreciated so that the lesser art can be removed and quality maintained..

    Version 2.5!!

    New downloadable content available. This newest update contains around 100 new or improved ancillaries and an faction heir system. Each faction has his own unique ancillary for the system which will be introduced in turn 3. The system works fine but there are some game limitations which you should consider (these stand a bit lower in this post).

    install:
    Just copy the Data map in the folder and overwrite. Note that this mod is not compatible with any mod, only vanilla 2.1 or mods that don't alter any of the files this mod alters.


    Note to Faction heir system:
    - When the faction heir dies before the faction leader, the system will not work due to game engine limitations.
    - Sons of a faction heir who becomes faction leader are always chosen before brothers, even if you are using the faction heir system. so your choice is always between the sons in the family tree. Unless their are none.
    - generals outside the family tree can't become a faction heir.

    Small preview:

    A small presentation of some of the new ancillaries. I have put in some new versions of vanilla-ancillaries to demonstrate my work. these are the following:

    The one ring, The Witchking's ring, Ring of Barahir, Palantir, Hobbit, Gondor helmet, Elven helmet, Leave of Lorien, Gollem, Horn of Gondor, Staff of Gandalf the Grey, Staff of Gandalf the White, Staff of Saruman, Lembas & Elvish Rope

    This preview is compatible with all TATW mods and can be installed just by copying the data-folder in the third age map and overwriting all the files. There shouldn't be any problems. Images of the implemented ancillaries can be found in the first 6 posts of this thread.

    Small Extra's

    This file gives you the possibility to do other stuff on your computer while the game keeps running on the background. Note that it runs slower then it would have when your in it, but still it comes in hand when you don't want to stare at a screen while the AI takes its turns.

    Just overwrite the TATW folder with this and start the game. compatibel with all mods as long as you have the original mod folder name. If not you need to change the stuff you previously changed in the file once more, in order to start the right game.

    Let's talk compatibility:

    I made the event video mod compatibel with the Free ancillary resource mod, just install both mods and overwrite with these files.

    The Regional Movie mod and the Free Ancillary Resource mod are both as far as i know also compatible "all at once" with:

    - Louis Lux's heroes modpack
    - Gigantus reduced city textures
    - Cedric 37's AUI Gold Edition

    So by installing the combined "ancillary resource mod" and the "event video mod" (with the fix) you can also install these other 3 mods.

    i'm working on multiple projects right now and wanted to related this in 1 topic because i didn't want to keep on spamming the submod section in different places..

    so i am creating one file in which the team and i can store all the work.. i hope this is ok with you it's only so it's less spamming on the forum.. problem is that i accidentaly submitted the reply instead of previe post.. the idea was to post it when it was ready..

    English please, speaking in another language is a break of ToS, if you want to change the name of the thread just go to your original post and press edit and then go advanced , there the first line is the title that you can change to something more suitable like I did

    I hope you're planning to change the OP of your other thread, either way one of the threads will be closed, probably this one.

    Well I pretty much have the character traits and ancillaries covered. I've already done a revision of traits to be included in RCRR and I have a revision with even more traits ancillaries and revised triggers. Also my mod merge project will allow me to release a file with all character traits and ancillaries from all the other mods combined for the most extensive list of character traits and ancillaries period.

    If you come up with new ancillaries and traits it would be cool to combine our work together.

    that was exactly my idea.. since there are so many good modders who make big modifications i wanted to focus on the small things and hopefully ad them to the bigger packages.. so when we have some solid ancillaries we wil let you know for sure and give you our permission to use them looking forward to working with you

    how is your faction heir mod coming together, did you get my last thought on it? i real like yours bether then the other one.. especially because the items you are going to use if you need anymore input just let me know

    Lol this thread got off to a pretty shaky start, but here are some ideas for your new units: (note: some may be indirectly influenced by ROTWK!)
    Gundabad orcs. A necessary addition for any evil northern faction. They should be the staple unit of the northern armies, and I think pale skin and maybe fur coats are in order for these guys, to give them a bit of flavour and uniqueness.
    Snow Wolves. Smaller than wargs, but just as vicious. They could use the warhound model/animation etc.
    Hill trolls. They make an appearance in "Born of Hope" and seem to be more or less like cave trolls, but a bit smaller and "greener".
    I dunno if there are still evil men in the North during the War of the Ring, but some barbarian-type units could be interesting. (IIRC the men of Lossoth were actually "Good".)
    Spiders could be a good addition as rebels in mirkwood, as opposed to those wierd M2TW vanilla milita units who have crosses on their shields, though that would require extensive modelling and perhaps new animations.
    Snagas and goblin troops IMO need an overhaul, and need to look more hunched and "goblinny".
    Just my two cents (or pence?)

    Its coming along. I'll be uploading a new version shortly. Haven't had time to make custom portraits, but all the code is done.

    I have included those in TATWE-E. They already exist just weren't include in the code for RCRR. If you use RCRR you can simply add in a new EDU entry for them as the skins, meshes, portraits, and ui stuff, and battlemodels.modeldb entries should already be there. I'll double check this for you though.

    I've some of us are up to it we might be able to make a start on those portraits if you have an idea what you want? I'm currently still putting together a list off tasks

    btw if you want some extra for your mod i'm currently busy with developing the Weathertop.. it's practically done except for the scripting and a final version of the discovery movie
