    Default Attacking Script

    I thought a little bit about this wonderful mod and everytime got to one point. The game always goes the way that when the hard time in the beginning is over, i just garrison my cities just with the maximum of freeupkeep units which dont cost anything for me and the rest of my army throwing at the enemy. When this happens the game begins to get easy.

    So why dont implement a special script for those who want more challenge? For example i am playing as Rohan and at turn 30 i get a message which says: Scouts have discovered that Saruman is mustering an army which will advance at Helms Deep, prepare your defences in 3 turns.

    Then you have to put as many troops as you can in Helms Deep and 3 turns later an army spawns and attacks Helms Deep.

    And this script for every important city like Helms Deep, Edoras, Minas Tirith, Dol Amroth, Rivendell and so on, and for the evil factions too, this would prevent that you throw your whole army at the enemy, your advance will be slower and you have to protect your important cities with a much more garrison which will limit your expansion to a realistc size. And not for the AI only for the human player.

    For example the siege of Minas Tirith, the southern provinces of Gondor only sent 1/10 of their troops to help, the rest 9/10 were held back because of the corsairs, i would love to see that ingame and its possible Call of Warhammer is doing it already.

    hmm, I feel interested in working on a script like this, to be honest...
    unfortunately I don't have an unlimited amount of time...

    That was only for one fief, not all of them.

    I, for one, feel that this is a good suggestion (if it is not already in the works). It could also be a possible solution to the popular "Harad navel invasion" topic.

    Its a good idea but for example, Rohan us smashing Isengard in a rare occasion and then out of know where, Isengard gets a script army on Helms Deep, they take it and Rohan falls apart.

    Wouldn't it kind of benefit the evil faction?

    It could be scripted for other factions too. And only the player controlled faction would come under attack.

    i think it's kind a odd if a losing faction suddenly ends on top cause of a script.. it should be a random event.. not a turn of the tide.. these things could really mess up strategies..

    i think it would be a bit unfair for instance gondor controls the river crosings at osgiliath and cair andros but have to fight of a huge stack that apperas at minas tirith, maby settlements of more strategic importance

    it should be at least borderline settlements from the enemy invader.. otherwise it's useless to protect your lands at the border if they spawn inland.. so conceirning the above.. let osgiliath be the target instead of minas tirith for example

    It could be a yes/no event, disabling or allowing the thing at the start of the campaign (just like the barracks event) or perhaps yes/no event every time it is triggered.

    the first option is the best i guess.. cause i think it's a bit lame to be able to say.. now is not a good time.. come back later .. that makes the challenge to easy

    You have a point there. But I was just thinking out loud, you know. Perhaps the player should activate it when he/she thinks he/she's ready for it. Example:

    I am overpowered, I activate the script (don't know if show_me_how scripts are still possible?) and see my kingdom fall apart as many hostile armies take my cities.

    yeah that could be an idea but is such a script possible one you can turn on / off?

    Make this script check if a certain event_counter is set to 1 would work. The counter would be set to one by the player.

    ow ok then it might be worth for someone looking at it.. it isn't a bad idea at all

    haha i'm already trying to implement the weahtertop for about 3 weeks.. and still don't make it through the first tutorial

    I have scripted in the past, so I should be able to do it again!

    I think the scripts should be made in such a way that they are optional, historical battles in the campaign.
    "Do you want to fight the historical battle of Helms-Deep? Yes/No"
    etc


    I'm pretty sure I can do this soon, I just have to... uhm... install TATW...
