Same answer as always: As long as it takes.

There is much to add in order to go from TNS to 3.0 and we are revamping a lot of things too. Quality takes time.

The map is twice as big (includes everything from Forodwaith to Far Harad and from Lindon to Rhun), 3 new factions in the campaign (Dale, Elves, Dwarves), many new units (obviously), most old units retextured, new battlemap environments, new map textures, new buildings, new models, new traits, new music etc etc. And of course much of what is already there in TNS will be revamped.

    Really awesome,
but if the map ranges a lot further to the north wouldn't be useful for forodwaith to be a faction, otherwise you'll have really much rebels in the north.

And just a general question about the mod:
where did you get the name Adunabar?

I'm new to this mod but in FATW the Reunited Kingdom consists only of Gondor, when you are adding more northern areas (even to Forodwaith and you can barely get more northern) will parts of ancient Arnor be added to the Reunited Kingdom, like Annuminas, Fornost Erain, Amon Sul and Bree?

Split to a new thread, as it wasn't relevant to the Lost Legion.

We haven't included much of Forodwaith, just its southernmost edges, and split it in 4 fairly large regions. But this doesn't justify a faction by any means; it would be like asking for an Eskimo faction, or a Sahara faction in RTW because Sahara is a very large uninhabited area.

There was a lot of debate internally about the faction's name, and Adûnabâr was the one that was decided (in 06/07 I think, I wasn't in the team at the time). It is a combo of dûn (West) and bâr (Land), if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, the reason for Adunabar's rebellion against RK is supposed to be the desire to restore the glory of the Men of the West (Elendil etc) So an interpretation would be "the Land of the Men of the West".

Aradan could you post a link to the preview in that other forum please?

Note that it's not so much a preview per se, but a weekly/fortnightly/monthly/whenever-we-can-find-time-to-do-it update and discussion of what's going on, usually with screenies.

    For instance:

This is all WIP of course, as we continue to improve everything, from battlemap models/textures to game mechanics (which are impossible to preview though).

Hello Aradan - what is progress in making FATW3 for now?
Any links or new screens/post availiable?)

I don't think the progress can be measured exactly, because we have no specific idea what our end goal is apart from "being perfect").

We are making daily progress, each in his own department, and this means things are going well. We haven't released any new screenshots lately, because we are in the middle of something that can't really be shown piecemeal.

    Regarding progress:

I can tell you that I am creating new, unique and realistic vegetation models (trees, mainly) for each climate right now, and also regularly revisit details of changes made on the campaign map to make them look good in battlemap mode. I've managed to wrestle a Dead Marshes climate with vegetation from the engine last night, and have fine-tuned battlemap textures recently. As always, there's a lot going on, but we're not advertising everything. But rest assured, we will blow your mind (I've seen top secret additions from other team members that almost made me fall off my chair...)

PS: If you've seen the screenies up to now, you haven't seen anything!

I read this so called Bible, and found it to be a third rate story in which this so called 'jesus' is nothing more than a shameless lampooning of Brian, which has inspired joy and laughter in millions.

Actually I have a slightly relevant question.

I havn't tried Game Booster yet so i'm not sure if this can be applied properly. So at the moment Gamebooster is a viable option.

I have been well trying to play EB 1 and found that the campaign map is stuttering and jumping and quite slow, moreso in the AI turn, due to the resources of my laptop. A general yes or no will suffice. Is the updated map going to be anywhere near as detailed or resource intensive as the EB map?

Althought the slowness might be due to the Ai background scripts they use...In which case everything is Kosher

The amount of resources or the textures on EB's start-map isn't relevant to the slow-down. It's the scripts running on the background that are killing the speed. FATW was, is and will be bullet-fast.

I thought that might be the case. I couldn't play EB because it was as slow as a human trying to sprint in a vacuum. Shame because it seemed really good and a lot of thought and effort had been put into it. As Aradan says there isn't that problem with FA:TW however.
