putting your stuff to download on rapidshare, that's terrible, please respect your own stuff and put it on megaupload or something of equal quality,

because downloading SS at 40 ko/sec isn't really attractive !

In my experience the same guys shouting for new mirrors are those that don't contribute new ones themselves. Every time this ongoing demand and bashing of rapidshare and yet again no-one is uploading to the mirror they want. Megaupload sucked at the time most of those rapidshare mirrors were set up and at some times of the day here it still does.

Stainless Steel 4.x has megaupload mirros in the last post in the topic and everything else (ok, except 5x) has mu mirrors as well. Have you even checked? I mean, seriously checked? If yes, then quote the stuff you want mirrored, answer in that topic and ask there.

The sticky in the mainforum has a mediafire link with 6.1 to 6.2 leaving you to use the non-rapidshare mirror for 6.0 to 6.1 from the 6.1 release topic.
The 6.2 release topic has megaupload mirrors leaving you to use... megaupload.
The Stainless Steel 6.X Install Guide has those combinations neatly summed up.

I'm just curious, why is there so much rapidshare bashing? Is it inferior to other upload links? If so, could someone list the ones from greatest potential to be faster to least potential?

Rapidshare suffers capacity problems for quite a while now leaving free users out in the rain. Along with their 200mb limit and the 15 minute waiting period between download its not really usable as a free user at the moment. Megaupload hardly imposes limits in regards to filesize and the max download limit is a multiple of Rapidshare as well.

Before this situation arose I had the impression that Rapidshare is better for EU users while Megaupload provides better infrastructure for the US. With RS reducing their bandwith for free users this has changed but before that it was definitly a matter of location. My Megaupload downloads max out at the same level wiande is reporting for Rapidshare. This has improved in recent months but is still a matter of luck.

Hopefully this has answered your question a bit. I wont list services for the reason mentioned above - the same service that works great for you may just simply not work out for your next door neighbor with a different isp.

I personnally cannot stand the rapidshare bashing as it never seems to be more then complaining - so your T3 doesnt get maxed out and the download takes ages. Thats bad. And just plain annoying. But why not do more then complain and simply upload to somewhere that you think best to help out others after you suffered through it...
With services like multiupload.com you don't even need to do the above. As you could see with the latest SS5.1 mirror I prompted that page to remotely batch download from the old rapidshare ones to create new ones with every major filesharing service. Its that easy and took me less time then posting my first response in this topic.

If you pay, your doing it wrong. Besides nobody proposed that we switch over to rapidshare and its already stated that everything has other download alternatives. I think everything is said here so as far as I am concerned this topic can be closed.

What is unclear specificly?
I've written CC a message proposing the sticky to be simplified but is that really necessary?

• The sticky states that 6.1 is needed. You can download that from the 6.1 release topic and the 6.2 update is downloadable from rapidshare _and_ mediafire. So even if you only visit the 6.1 release thread and this topic you can update to 6.2 without rapidshare as I mentioned above.

• Additionally there is a link at the bottom to the topic you linked to which leads you to the additional mirrors.

To be perfectly frank - your complaing about one slow 90mb download which you might have to suffer through if you don't happen to catch all the other links around here. If you download the main installers (~1gb...) parallel to that one I doubt it will even make much difference in respect to time. At the same time I've yet to read one word of thanks for this mod and for my taste your asking for a bit to much perfection.
If you are intend on avoiding any possible future missunderstandings others might have with the current system I propose you post concrete examples & solutions here as I regretably fail to see the problem. Sorry for that.
