Hi, All
Can anyone tell me there is any rules to improve the unit's experience?
Is it based on the enemy this unit killed or just years this unit in service?

It is based upon the number of kills made by a unit. It is on an exponential scale, so you need to kill way more to go from 5 to 6 experience than you do to go from 0 to 1. There are some points gained by troops just turning up, it is not many but it can be enough to push you over the edge to gain the experience point. Also note that routing units only give you something like 1/3 of an equivalent "kill".
I don't think the total number of units present makes that much of a difference (unlike the calculation to obtain stars for your general, which needs even odds or better), although clearly your troops will get more kills if there's more of the enemy. What I am unsure about is whether you get more experience points for fighting a variety of different enemies, e.g. if you fight against phalanxes, and then fight slingers, then whether you get bonus points.
There are two bugs in the experience calculations - one is that Auto-Resolve tends to give very high experience points when it shouldn't (I'll let someone more knowledgable than me explain why), and the other is that retraining keeps all the experience even though you've drafted in new recruits (although this is a bit hit-and-miss, I've seen this happen and also not happen).
Also, I think there is a certain amount of tracking done on the exp of individual soldiers, because when a unit takes massive casualties without itself causing any kills (For instance, via missile fire), sometimes the unit gains exp. I remember reading around on this forum that this effect was because low-exp soldiers were killed, leaving high-exp soldiers behind, which shifted the "average" exp, which is what's displayed on the unit card.
Thanks. It looks like there is no special rules to gain experience other than kill enemies.
If I remember well the experience (of the unit) is calculated per soldier and the most experienced are placed in the front row(s) since they usually do most of the fighting.
Enough of them have to survive and kill enemies in order to increase the unit's experience.
Autoresolve gives the nicest results, it goes much slower if you fight the battles.
I had an unit thatt gained 1 exp without participating in battle at all!
Also, how do i make my bodyguards retrain after they reach silver chevron? I`d agree even to lose it.
FM bodyguards cannot be retrained, they regenerate over time. You can retrain only allied general bodyguards, since they come as a recruited unit.
I know, i mean, they stop regenerating when they reach silver chevron. Very often. Usually when below 20.
