    Default Campaign map

I really like the map because it's stretching somewhat more east. But will you guys make the terrain somewhat more like RS1? Because this terrain of RS2 has a lot of straight lines and pointy corners, it's not smooth like RS1.

I didn't play RS2 because the installer doesn't work, so I didn't see it myself but in the show your empires I noticed it.

Some retexturing will happen as well, but here's how some parts of the revised map will look (plus some tidying up the resources which are now in the wrong locations - some of the coastlines have shifted quite considerably)

Here's progress on the map - I'm also doing a load of retexturing as I go including retexturing some of the trees:

I'll probably make the non-forest / non-mountain summer mediterranean textures slightly less green, but overall I'm very pleased with the new look:

Looks awesome, but the river between Apollonia and Thermos is not flowing into the sea.

I know....rivers will get fixed last....in fact if you look you'll see that most don't currently get as far as the sea.

We've had to de-emphasize the look of the mountains on the strat map in order to avoid too many steep slopes on battlefields. The strat map and the battlemap are 'hooked' together in the sense that both use map_heights....so if you have very steep areas on the strat, you'll get them on the battlefields as well.

that may be true but in that area you can't even fight that many battles as the there is stuff there so why not make that area at lease more mountainy as right now it seems really flat with some major hills.

BTW my question still stands about the roads as since you changed the land don't you have to change the road map aswell? I really only care as right now there are some areas that would be logical to have roads but don't like from genoa all the way along the sea to massalia or the galatian city to the pontic cities

The roads in RTW basically follow a 'whatever the game decides' path. Like the area around Genoa to Massalia...even though you can march an army along the coast, the game builds the road from Genoa to Taurini thru the pass in the Alps to Massalia. The only way to prevent that would be to close the pass, and I really don't want to do that. My guess is that the game constructs the roads based on closest city to closest city and THEN goes to more distant cities. Doesn't always make sense...but yeah, there it is.

Some map updates - need to relocate some resources and rivers, mountains and forests, but mostly done - retexturing still somewhat in process:
