    Default Most Outrageous Rebel Unit

Just wanted to know the most outrageous rebel unit you've seen.

Mine: I let Messana revolt under the Scipii so that I could exterminate the populace so I could hold off on the Marian reforms. They revolted and the city was filled with Arab Cavalry and some wierd Elephant formation that "came from the deepest depths of Terra Nova" and were summoned by some God-of-shiny-things-that-humans-dont-need-but-want-anyway". I think they were called Yasrub Elephants, or something like that. Also my game crashed directly after the turn Messana revolted, and will not reload so I cannot get a screenshot.

I once had a path blocked then got attacked by a massive peasant army... They had 4 units of maximum experience, gold attack and defense.

I lost with bargain Auxilia troops...

I lost one of my own once, partially due to my own incompetence, as I was still learning how the Total War battle system worked. I ordered them to just charge through a settlement's wooden wall unsupported. Little did I know that there were javelinmen laying down cover for spearmen on the other side. They only killed one before they were trampled.

One way to avoid (hopefully) siege battles is to siege a town with a (technically) weaker army ensuring that the ai sally. For example as the Julii you can siege Luvavum with your faction leader only and when the ai sally on the next turn run up the high hill next to the town and wait for the enemy to come towards the top then charge (instant rout of 1 unit) run down a little to pull the enemy down and then back to the top for a rest and when they come up charge again etc etc (just remember to sound your generals trumpet to push him towards the back when charging and its all easy peasy)

Or you can take 1 unit from the army, siege the city and put the rest of the army near the unit siegeing. Just close enough so that when the garrison attacks the lone unit sieging, the rest of the "main" army shows up in the battle as reinforcements. This is what I do and it works most of the time.

Once a Seleucid city revolted. The rebel army consisted of Catraphracts, Armored Elephants, Silver Shield Legionaires and Pikemen, and some archers... All with 6 experience (I think).

I was playing on Very Hard. Made the mistake of sending one border legion (the hardcore ones, with lots of Pretorians), 2/3 of the army went capput... Had to bring two entire border legions plus what was left of the destroyd legion and som reinforcements. It took me 2,5 legions and I STILL lost half of my men... Tree Elephant units is just mean...

I had a similar but with the Greeks. Must have been because of the mod I was using, as the game normally doens't spawn such rebel forces... I kid you not, that incident made me edit all the buldings so that the cities could be kept under order more easily (at least before using Mundus Magnus... The map size just screws the farest cities).
