Default I have noticed a lot of hatred for Medieval 2?

Why is that the game has better graphics than Rome and the online community is much pleasing. Rome total war gameplay is like the cesspools of amsterdam or any dutch city but in contrast Medieval 2 is like the paradise. Rome total war is complete corruption born out of sin and lust filled with desecration and other evils.

Actually there are pikemen (so you've got a phalanx variation), and there IS cantabarian circle lol, if you ignore a lot of historical accuracy you get some ridiculous units (arcani, urban cohort, the egyptian roster.... lol)

    I haven't played M2TW in a while so I didn't remember cantabrian circle
But the spear wall....it only acts best when it's static(easily to counter in MP) and it completely fails to stop cavalry charges if on the move(especially with all the types of elite cav). Besides...the type of soldiers that can do that kind of formation are low quality and they have no shields whatsoever....that's why I hate M2TW :|

Actually Pikemen, even Militia pikemen can and do destroy any type of heavy cav if on the move, provided that spear wall is turned on of course lol. Pikemen are great units in Med 2, trust me on this i play the game online. Pikemen are one of the most cost effective units.

Phalanx: Pikemen, albeit it is woprse than Phalanx
Shield Wall: Oh, yes there is. You can mod it in and it'll work fine with Huscarls, for example.
Cantabrian Circle: It's called Shooting Circle now
    But no Sap Points.

    EDIT:

I see nothing wrong with M2, it runs fine on my computer, the Battle animations are exponentially better, and it's alot like RTW...but it has Guns
when the union's inspiration through the worker's blood shall run,
there can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun,
yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one?
but the union makes us strong.

I'm sick. THROW GLAMOUR OUT THE WINDOW, FORGET GRAPHICS FORGET ANIMATIONS!!!
WAs MTW and Shogun bad games because of thier graphics? NO. RTW has this feel to it that is much more better than M2TW. Units are better, gamelay is better and for those who are like, I need my medieval fix but I don't want to play M2TW, just play Rome Medieval its better than M2TW and it still has the magic of Rome. Perfect mix of the 2, but RM is better.

Better graphics doesn't equal better gaming experience.

What have you got against the Dutch?

    Graphics =/= epicness.
    M2TW online = small
M2TW = doesn't work on my damn computer
You = bigot. What do you have against Dutch people?
In this day and age, there are two kinds of people: people with sticks, and people with bigger sticks.

I prefer RTW over MTW2 because I find it feels smoother and faster, I prefer the time period, can tell the units apart easier, and the greater imbalance of factions makes it more interesting, particularly 2v2s, and I don't really care about graphics.

Fair point on the online community though

I go for M2TW ALL THE WAY. I think it was a huge step and I like it. Cavalry charges in reality are deadly even against good units, its accurate in warfare, and I enjoy the time period a lot.

Already tried that the first day. MTW2 Cantabrian does not prevent the enemy archers from nailing the poor bastards.

And if you had ever played RTW online regularly you would know that RTW cavalry is a lot more deadly than MTW2 cav. I can give you several reasons for this: 1. Can attack units in any direction instead of having to wait 2 minutes for an enemy soldier to walk beside the horse.
    2. wedge trick
    3. Armor piercing.

Now let me explain yet again why MTW2 is annoying as .
    1. Lag
    2. unit response and slow ass gameplay.
    3. according to the OP people hate the Dutch.
    4. If i want to change my damn nickname i have to go to some damn website i forgot months ago, Request a new password, wait for them to send the email, change the password, change the nickname, and THEN i can play.
    5. Lobby censorship.

    1. I already explained to you why lag occurs. I play the game online.
    2. No to the first part, and second, you don't expect heavily armoured units like that to move fast like they did on RTW, (talk about unrealistic movements, heavy cav moving at the speed of light cav lol, with the light cav moving like they are on extacy)
    4. The link to the website is right under the sign in. info on the Multiplayer section in your game.
    5. Get over it.

And just so you know, cav in med 2 are far more deadly, there is something far more dangerous than wedge in that game lol. And cav are armour piercing, you know the Kataphractoi, Mamluks, Teutonic Knights, English Cav, Huscarls etc. And cav do attack from the front, but you'd realise that if you actually payed attention, it takes a little longer for the cav fight to finish, get over it. There is such a thing as flanking, and spearmen (rarely have i had to duke it out without doing a flank or sending spearmen or infantry support to help the cav battle finish faster) . we get it, you don't like Med 2, but stop complaining it's a great game that many people enjoy.

    1. you need to stop blaming people's pc's and start blaming GS, because modern PC's can run MTW2 without problems.
    2. not the running speed, the turning speed. if it helps, even units without armor run like exhausted people.
    3. Yes, i know they are armor piercing in MTW2 but that wont matter since they cant attack frontally and you gotta run the bastards deeper into the enemy troops in order for them to get enemies to the sides of em.
    4. k.
    5. No. you wouldnt know how annoying it is to speak dutch to another guy from the benelux only to have half the words in your sentence striped out because its a little offensive in english. for example in Dutch Fagot is a musical instrument, not a homosexual.

It may be a good game and i didnt say it wasnt, but RTW excells it in every technical way except graphical. as i stated in the other thread. if they have fixed the GS lag issue, If they have fixed unit movement, if they have updated the engine so cav can frontally attack, if cantabrian circle works properly, i will admit that the game is a good addition to the series. if not then you playing the game is enough punishment xD

I like medieval 2 over rome because: better graphics. It's not just overall visuals either it's the animations, and no clone units, better battle AI, better diplomacy AI, cities are better than Rome's...they actually look like real settlements, better units (trebuchets and cannons and gunmen),

Also many more features than Rome, like agent videos, the Americas, crusades, papal elections, merchants Mongol invasions, more diplomacy options.

You can't spam an army of elite units as in Rome because of the unit limit, which is good. The cities/castles feature is something needed in Rome since you can develop every settlement into a powerhouse. Being able to control reinforcement armies is also something I missed in Rome.
