France keeps breaking our alliance

I'm playing as Ireland and I was planning on joining Napoleon in his conquest of Europe but every turn he breaks our alliance even though his attitude towards me is very friendly!!!! .

I have kept an alliance with Spain since nearly the start of the campaign and I am 70 turns in now....

This must be a bug since they will accept an alliance offer every turn but will break it on the next. I would just leave it broken but I'm currently invading Denmark and Prussia and I want those 4+ French stacks in Germany to help me.

In an earlier campaign as Russia I forced Spain into a war with France giving France hostile attitude towards them, they made peace the next turn and set up an alliance but France kept breaking it every other turn just like they are doing to me now.

Does anybody know a way to get them to stop breaking our alliance?

It's likely, AI's France sees Ireland still as being sort of "Britain"... The game script appears to be designed to "auto-correct" any alliance/peace between France and UK. In a multiplayer campaign in which one of us was Britain, the other one was Russia, AI France would OFFER peace to both of us just to break the truce the very next turn...

So, bottom line, I think it's the script that's causing your alliance being broken.

France is like that in all TW games lol

Engage in common wars, pay them to break alliances, pay them to do trade embargos etc. It's really easy to keep alliances in NTW, just keep buttering them into doing your bidding.

I'm playing as Russia and I'm having the same problem with England... Don't know why, but it's pissing me off. However, I had bought Scotland from them to serve as a port for my navy in that area, I thought maybe that was the problem so I gifted it back, and behold; they stopped breaking the alliance. So .... That is why, they break the alliance either because they feel ur a threat, or because you own land they feel should belong to them.
