    Default Buying a new camera

To start off, I currently have a ancient camera. A relic of the past. A Canon ZR500, so old I can't find very much info on it.

I've been looking to upgrade and think that going on a payment plan would be a fairly good idea. Problem is my brother who says that going on a payment plan would be a terrible idea citing how quickly camcorders get out of date.

I mainly record events and even little skits with friends. Toss in the fact that I sometimes use AfterEffects and you can easily see that the effects will be much better quality than the camera film it is currently shot on.

I'm just looking to get something up to date, it's not like I'm going to be setting out for a new camera on a yearly basis. With the dingy old thing I have now, yes it's out datedness will be noticed. Not for a camera a year or so old.

So far I've been looking around and have this one added to the list so far- Sony Handycam HDR-CX100 HD Camcorder.

    Test Shot

    Thanks for any info!

Here's some comparisons to help in your shopping

    Canon Vixia HG20

    Canon Vixia HF200

Looks like both of these got better ratings, but are both more money. The choice between the two are internal flash card or external removable card. I personally prefer removable media since I prefer to archive everything. But, if archival of your raw media isn't a big deal and you only export the final product, then internal is fine.
