I've been playing as Armenia and the Sarmatians lately and really enjoying the horse archers. Alas, after conquering the steppes, and Anatolia(with my Sarmatians) my horse archers all the sudden got retarded and overly eager against Macedonia.
Against Pontics/Armenia/Pergamum they always performed well, kept their distance, and I would retreat them once they were out of arrows(not retreat off field). Now however they will start up their Cantabarian(sp?) circle and randomly stop mid-circle and stay in that formation but not move. Or if they do move they move backwards so slowly that even phalanxes catch up with them(which they never had issues with before).
Any ideas? I went into a battle with almost a full stack of horse archers and heavy horsemen(nobles) against a Macedonian army of comparable size(should be easy victory) and lost 50% of my army to phalanxes that the horse archers sort of just walked into, and then refused to back off from.
HELP!
