Default Which Religon has the most devoted followers

Post your opinion on a scale of greatest to least!
I check into small hotel a few kilometers from Kiev. It is late. I am tired. I tell woman at desk I want a room. She tells me room number and give key. "But one more thing comrade; there is one room without number and always lock. Don't even peek in there." I take key and go to room to sleep. Night comes and I hear trickling of water. It comes from the room across. I cannot sleep so I open door. It is coming from room with no number. I pound on door. No response. I look in keyhole. I see nothing except red. Water still trickling. I go down to front desk to complain. "By the way who is in that room?" She look at me and begin to tell story. There was woman in there. Murdered by her husband. Skin all white, except her eyes, which were red. I tell her I don't give a . Stop the water trickling or give me refund. She gave me 100 ruble credit and free breakfast. Such is life in Moscow

How can one quantify that? Do we look at outward displays of devotion, the scale or intensity of rituals, how militantly apologetic followers are on the internet? Or are we interested in inner, true devotion, an unmeasurable variable?

    Moorish Guy,

If you stick by the word's meaning you can't go past the Lord Jesus Christ's body the church. But if you are talking not of the real meaning that takes in a lot of leeway. Perhaps I'm wrong here but my guess is that you would like Islam to have that because its devotees, if one can call them that, seem to be easily persuaded to kill for their beliefs.

They're present in both Hinduism and Sufism, but I've always thought the Indian fakirs are a fairly drastic bunch of people.

    Cool Story Brah,

Notice that I said them that are easily persuaded. Of course it is true that in other times men of other religions were persuaded through indulgencies to do things that perhaps they might well not have, it doesn't take away from Islam that this type of persuasion is most prevalent in today's world within that religion. Provided they get past the mercy of God the lure of a paradise kitted out with the most beautiful of virgins is a powerful mind changer. But like indulgencies the promise is not testifiable.

There is no basis for this in the Qu'ran at all. I don't know where the virgin story came from, but I'm pretty positive that it wasn't mentioned like that in the Qu'ran.

Im not easily persuaded. The ones who are persuaded are the small minority in Afghanistan and Iraq. Notice how other Islamic countries fight terrorists, or "people who die for a religion". There not going to go to heaven just because they blew themselves up. You have to have a reason, a good reason. Which terrorist's, dont in this case, killing innocents. Your just saying anyone who blow's themselves up, is going to heaven, because that's also the opposite of what you do, to go to heaven. Also, as above said, there is no virgin story. The Quran said, most likley you will be with your family in heaven, if you will.

Might I suggest a small correction?

Which Religion has the most devoted deluded followers?

    Still a hard question.

    Is it the ritualistic cannibals?
    The warlords pawns?
    The Utah cult?

And which factors should be weighed more? The willingness to murder or the willingness to die? Would not heavens gate or Jim Jones top the list as a % even if their numbers were not as great?
"When I die, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like Fidel Castro, not screaming in terror, like his victims."

    My shameful truth.

I guess the one that has a huge chunk of its population engaged in attempting to blow themselves up, or supporting said act. o.O Can't get much more devoted than killing yourself for a cause, can ya now?

LOL, I went to a kingdom hall on numerous occasions. The drab plastic suits, the plastic fake smiles, and the insta-answers learned by rote to every question soon made me feel like an actual human among soulless clones.

Atheism is beginning to spread pretty quickly, in Europe religion is fast becoming pretty marginalised, in my city for example most of the churches have been turned into pubs and nightclubs and it is considered outwith the norm to go to church/mosque whatever but it's the same all over Britain. I think the Scandinavian countries are the most areligious at the moment though.
