Well there ya have it. I'm a Darthmod man for Empire so I think most of you know that means I am a realism and challenge fanatic and not a casual gamer. So my question is really is NTW worth my $50 or should I stick to DMUC and wait for mods to come and buy it when the price goes down?

Depends the grand campaign is of a smaller more detailed nature then the ETW one which you may or may not like but yes all the features of ntw as a game far outwiegh those of ETW.It really comes down to if you wish to play a more detailed representation of a very specific time in war or a more general one with etw.

But again many features in NTW that you wont nor ever find in ETW (such as diplomacy that works and is logical ) as for realisim Darth has done some amazing work with a game that was pretty broken to start with and vannillia is not as say realistic (not really the right word no TW is trully realistic) but there are mods already to introduce what some may percieve as realisim .

PS if you check the forums you will see a company has been offering the game for 17.99 pounds or euros i assume so at a lower price may well be worth checking out i personally love it but all tastes are different

And above very Informative posts gentlemen hmm NO lol very incitive oh and at placid dragon if there is but 1 campaign why have i played GB prussia russia france spain sweden so far maybe i cant count but that seems more than 1

Then you have been playing with mods

The grand campaign offers the choice between 5 nations (well, 4 really, England, Russia, Prussia and Austria. France has its own grand campaign which is basically identical but under Napoleons battles or somesuch), and regardless of who you start as, the starting point is always the same (everyone of note except for Prussia is at war with France). The only other nations with more than 2 territories is the Ottoman Empire and Spain i think (not checked).

Of course you can manipulate diplomatic relations through gifts, or throw a wrench in everything by declaring war left and right, but most start out hating France's guts, making most games very similar

If you really want to see hardcore realism...the no.
If you want to have fun....then yes.
Do not expect this game is anywhere near the Darth mod. Still its very enjoyable and for total war fun like me its a must.

...btw. you can buy it for less then 50 dollars....My was for 35 (aproximately).
"When your opponent fears you, then's the moment when you give the fear its own rein, give it the time to work on him. Let it become terror. The terrified man fights himself. Eventually, he attacks in desperation. That is the most dangerous moment, but the terrified man can be trusted usually to make a fatal mistake."

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

The game is fun, no question about that. It does have its problems though, and its replay value is extremely limited (only one campaign really, which is France against everyone else, bar small nations).

I would say that it is nowhere near worth 50 dollars, but it would probably be worth half that (when thinking of future mods, that'll help the longevity).

Napoleon is much better than Empire for what concerns stability and bugs issues.
Of course there is the problem of realism that has been largely debated in this forum and that could scare off a Darth Mod player.

But I want to warn you about another point that has not been discussed enough in the board: this game is essentially a lite version with too few units and a restricted strategic map (only Europe). It is clear that they intend to produce and sell a lot of DLCs to make up and to fill their pockets. My suggestion is: wait for a complete version (including several DLCs) to come out, unless you are prepared to spend a LOT of money for this game!

The game itself is fun but if you're into realism than this isn't the game for you until you find a mod for NTW that changes it the way Darth did for ETW.

I think Darth's NTW review said it all. Wait.

Personally, I think if I combined the price for ETW and NTW, I've gotten enough fun already just from NTW to cover it.

I personally like ETW better. I am not sure how anyone could find time for both games. I tend to fight every battle. A campaign literally takes me weeks.

For the love of Allah, no.

We were duped with the last game; if you have any principles at all you won't get this one.

Yes buy the game by all means ... even with all the problems these TW games are some of the greatest games out in there in their genre, and our continued support will keep them coming. If there are problems our awesome mod community will just fix them as they have always done to the best of their ability. It has been years since RTW came out and I still play mods of that ... what game out there has that kind of appeal for so long ... now that I have finally upgraded again I look forward to playing MTW II (which barely ran on my old comp) again ... and enjoying ETW and NTW which I just bought.

As for all the hate regarding ETW I am playing it with no mods, just updated, and am having a great time with it ... I know it had problems in the past but it is a fun game now!

    Just my silly question.

Does everyone who doesn’t have the game think they need their own thread to be convinced to buy the game?

    The game is fun!

If you don’t like fun, then don’t buy it.

    I would say no, personally.

I don't care for the 'Napoleon Campaigns', and the Grand Campaign just isn't 'Grand'. Only Europe and only 4 (+ France) playable factions.

I would at least wait until a good mod is released for other factions. Not just a mod to unlock them but to make them a real faction with enough units and stuff. Personally I would wait until they mod the map to be bigger then just Europe, but that most likely never to happen.

It's your decision but if you play the game for it's 'Grand Campaign' I wouldn't recommend it, at least for now.
