Default boromir hopeless in melee ?

talking about in game performance. not a lore discussion

has anyone else found boromir fights very poorly in battles ? the citadel guards with him fight well. but he's been easily killed in several campaigns i've played - by relatively low quality mordor orcs. i'm very careful with my generals, so it surprised me how quickly he died compared to the normal mounted generals.

in my experience faramir dies quite easily too. but i'm not so bothered by that since it makes the most sense to use him & his bodyguard as long range archers.

    i'm playing vanilla TATW 1.4.1

Boromir is considered to have been the best melee fighter in the Relationship - at least I recon that as being the popular opinion among lore-freaks.

Melee was his thing, I think.

    In the fellowship?

well, considering he was human, while the others were a pansy elf, a tiny dwarf, an old grandpa, 4 damn hobbits, and another human raised by pansy elves, that's not quite hard. After all, men pwn all other races by definition.

Boromir strongest melee fighter in the Fellowship? My friend I'm a true lorefreak: Aragorn is the "champion" of the Fellowship, I never heard or read anything else on one single for Tolkien forum.

    Legolas is stronger than Aragorn.

/Giving them more HP won`t change anything. They`ll just stagger around more..

I highly disagree and I would probably get most of the Tolkienists with me, its a matter of heritage (which is very important in Tolkien's legendarium), despite the fact that Legolas is an elf and Aragorn is a human, Aragorn woops Legolas as

Gimli outscored Legolas at helm´s so we can assume that Gimli was the fellowship´s meanest combatant

to the original poster: this is actually a bug within the game, where infantry generals do not have a block animation, and instead get attacked constantly, not giving him a chance to strike back, and dying like any other grunt.

i flamed about this a while ago, but there was no reply. i just hope theyre fixing this

    totally agree

i always keep my goblin general from fight but last time when the battle was very favorable to me I ordered the general to attack a heavy calvary group of 15 riders from behind while it was pinned down by my halberdier for quite some time. guess what, the general got himself killed!! he simly rushed in the enemy and was enveloped by 3 riders.

on the opposite, the mounted general is darn hard to kill. i used to put thousands of army try to kill 1 mounted general (only 1 general no other troops) yet they always get away.

Boromir was supposedly the best warrior in Gondor, though we learn this from a grieving Faramir so it could be the bereavement talking.

You guys REALLY need to check out this sub mod, it ads waaaaaaaaay more lore related units that KK dint have time to make, and makes boromir a TRUE heroic general that can really turn the tide of battle

That doesn't change the fact that your infantry generals are almost useless when in battle.
