Thanks, anyone else with a diffrent opinion?
Are barbarian factions fun?
I really like the selucids, although it can be very challanging in your early years because you have no infastructure. you could also try numidia has they start off poor, in a huge desert, and almost immediatly you will need to fight egypt/carthage/ and sometimes spain. Not to mention the romans, they have the ability to steamroll carthage meaning they can show up very quickly before you have good units.
im not sure about barbarians, most dont have very diverse unit rosters, but germany and brition can be fun. If you want something a bit more challanging, try scythia, they control vast tracks of land, are reletivly poor, and dont have very many units.

Thanks for the opinions-anyone played a pontus-ive been told they are fun
I find the Seleucids very fun until you have to move into Scythia and the African territory that is probably now controlled by the Scipii.
I enjoy playing as Spain, taking control of the Iberian peninsula then expanding over in Africa and rampaging through Gaul and Germanic territory.

Playing as Armenia is fun. You can sit back and build up for ages and most people will leave you alone, especially if you make a few alliances with those near you. Then you can just catasteamroller through the world with ease, and can have a full stack or two of legionarries to mop up any cities that you cba to starve out. Especially if you make your second row of catas cataphract archers. That makes it a lot easier to take on phalanxes.
Although this may disappoint some people, I am indeed alive, I just went inactive for three years.
Bah forget romans, too easy. I enjoy Parthia the most. The starting economy is really crappy to be honest and your troop ratio to the enemy can be kinda high esp when you face off with egypt and romans. Though the units are kinda good, infantry suck too so you also have to be good with fighting! As for a barb faction I recommend the germans. Playing a faction with barb and phalanx(spear war band) units can get pretty fun and interesting. You also fight the romans pretty early in-game.

God bless you! Oh wait you're an atheist? Then god DAMN YOU!
Hi there.
My three most entertaining campaigns ever was playing as the following nations:
Julii: The lack of good temples makes a lot of things difficult.
Carthage: Death is only a small strip of water away. Always fun
Selucids: The best unit-roster, an immense amount of money and a hell of problems to spend them on, but no time for anything. That is fun.
For other descriptions of entertaining, my "Rebels on VH/VH" campaign was the most challenging, but at times it was not as entertaining as sheer hard work.
