I'm thinking of building a new PC. Only obstacle is my wife (who is a HUGE obstacle
).
Goals:
- Construct a value box: I don't need cutting edge. I want the most bang for my buck.
- Anyway, I'd like to keep it under $800, ideally under $700.
- I want a system that will last ~4 years.
What I do with my PC:
- Innardnets browsing
- Hobby-level programming
- Hobby-level photo/texture editing
- Gaming: mostly RPGs and TBS, e.g. Dragon Age, TW, Oblivion, Football Manager 2010, etc.
- Most commonly run apps: Firefox, Foxit, MS Visual Studio 2008, MS Office 2007, Open Office, GIMP
Proposed Build:
You'll note there's no HD. I haven't decided what to do about that yet.
Thoughts? I'm especially eager to hear where you think I'm over doing it.
