    Default Crackling noise.

Every time I'm playing something through my speakers or headset, every time there is noise, a crackling noise comes with it.

Its becoming increasingly irritating, and since my computer is pretty new (September) I'd rather is be working fine.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I know it is not my speakers or headset, since it happens in both.

Have you tried updating your audio drivers?

    1) Does the crackling noise increase as you turn the volume up, or does it remain at a constant level?

    2) Have you updated your audio drivers? This seems an unlikely fix, but then again, you never know.

    3) Perhaps there is a bad connection in your wires, or a wire is only half-connected?

    4) This is also very unlikely, but perhaps both your speakers and your headphones are going bad simultaneously?

One more question: are you plugging into separate jacks each time or is it the same jack?

Figured out the problem. Apparently I think downloading 7zip screwed up something with the sound, so I did a system restore and it solved the problem.

7zip? Highly unlikely, but glad you got it fixed.

Only thing I downloaded or installed during the period, so no other option.

Okay, after a few days, the problem is back.

    Here is some more information.

It happens more while playing a game or CD. WoW, TW, or itunes, for examples.

The longer sound is on, the louder and more often the crackling is there. So it may start out without any noise, then after 3 hours it will be irritatingly loud.

Does the crackling noise increase as you turn the volume up, or does it remain at a constant level?
    Yes.

    Any more suggestions?

I have warranty on my computer till September, so if I can't fix the problem, is it worth taking it in over?

Also, do you think perhaps cleaning out the inside of my computer may solve it?
