balrogs are a good unit when they are with you but when they are your ennemies, they are a horribe unit:
11 of them can kill 300 dismounted swan knights!!!!!! (try if you don't believe me)
have they got weak points ??!!

Use units with ap or ballistas.
use seige weapons like ballistas and catapults, also use armour peirceing units like crossbowmen, or virtually any unit equiped with axes.
Swan Knights are useless against them because they have no armour piercing ability. If your playing as Gondor i suggest you use lots and lots of Axemen of Losssranoch (or what ever you call them) chances are you'll lose most of them, but if they take out the Balrogs then so be it!

ok thanks for your very quick answer
Lots of AP units striking and cavalry charging them from behind. At least that's how I did it. You will lose plenty of men no matter what, but that's the best method I find. If you have an experienced siege unit, it might be worth it since they do impressive damage.
Or you keep the siege on Moria until they're dead.![]()
Commander, the time has come.
Execute Order 66.
I haven't seen balrog yet. So far the most mighty creature I know is Mumakil. I create a custom battle putting ring wraith, olog hai, ent, swan knight and dismounted swan knight, berserker, etc. Mumakil simply kill them all![]()
Try maxed out balistas against them.
You need 2 things to kill a Balrog:
-Gandalf
-A bridge
I just charge them to no end with my cavalry, cheap and fast cavalry. They spend most of their time chasing me in vain. Just make sure you avoid melee and charging from the front and you avoid their charges. You will lose a lot less men then using any tactic with infantry bogged down in melee.
I never use siege weapons though except in sieges, and I wouldn't rely on them to kill the entire enemy unit unless you have 3 or 4 of them and you get lucky. One unit of cav can take out a unit of trolls out in the open if you play it right. But once those trolls/etc. hit your main line you are going to have causalities, so have some axes ready to go or run away before they get there.

Has anyone actually tried putting gandalf against the balrog (in game)? I'm guessing Gandalf would get owned...
Well, its a bit unfair, given that there are 4-10 balrogs and only 1 Gandalf...
