    Default Your own party?

Now there might have been similar threads in the past but all these upcoming elections inspired me to make this thread.

If you had your own party running for a national election what would it's policies be?

Post your policies, name and place on the political spectrum.

    Universalist party

Seeks to unite humanity in terms of communal effort and rewards, equally in terms of self worth and power sharing.

    The empire party

    Restart the British empire

    Moderate immigration restrictions

sever ties with America and the EU

create ties with the more "shifty" nations of the world e.g Russia

and deprivitise British things that have been privitised e.g British rail.
Yes, friends, governments in capitalist society are but committees of the rich to manage the affairs of the capitalist class.

    The National Party

    Country: Netherlands

    Policies:

Military: The Military will be expanded. Military expenditure will be increased. Conscription will be re-implemented. In order to support this, military supplies will be purchased and/or produced to meet demands.

The military will be promoted favourably. Military parades will be regularly held in large cities.

The military's uniqueness in comparison to that of other countries will be advocated. A new, more distinctive uniform will be designed.

In order to prepare men for their rather short conscription, a Russian program will be copied. Children will be educated somewhat on using and training with weaponry at school. Unlike the Russian variant, this will be a compulsory extra-school project.

Monarchy: The monarchy will be maintained, as one of the fundamentals of the country. The royal family's budget will be decreased. The monarch will become a more politically potent symbol.

Freedom of speech: All speech will be tolerated, unless it threatens to or will violate the rights of others. Deaththreats, advocation of discrimination, threats of violence, etc. will be deemed illegal.

Freedom of expression will be full, unless it violates anyone's rights. So flag burning, desecration of religious material and such will not be deemed illegal unless someone's rights have been violated in the proces.

Immigration/integration: Immigration will be decreased. It will be made more rigorous to ensure that only a few will come in. Anyone with a serious criminal past will be refused. Upon arrival, Immigrants and asylum seekers will first be sent to specialized integrationhomes, large homes where large groups of them will do their tests, first to be allowed to reside in the country, and then to become Dutchmen (gaining the Dutch nationality/citizenship will be necessary for many rights, and encouraged), and where they may reside and educate themselves on the country. If an immigrant fails the initial test, he will have a year to do it again. If he fails that one, he will be deported, either to his home or neighbouring country. Tests for citizenship can be repeated indefintely. The tests themselves will be quite hard and are filled with necessary questions about the country and the immigrant in question.

Assimilation will be encouraged, but not enforced. Assimilation with first generation immigrants is almost impossible. The ensueing generations will, with the emphasis on assimilation within the culture. The issue would be how

Patriotism: Love for the country will be advocated. Love for the country is more important than nationality or race. Within education, conscription and various jobs, there will be a large emphasis on the history and culture of the country. The monarchy, country and military will be actively promoted. Note: with promoted, this does not mean distorted. History will not be re-written, but there will be a greater emphasis of the goodness of our action when they were good, and the error when they were bad.

Similair to the immigrant tests, there will be a minor one for some public offices and some other, mostly administrative, jobs. The people who want those jobs will be required to know the first two couplets of the anthem, and a relatively difficult test about the history of the country and it's culture. This will ensure that the most patriotic of people will rule the country

Economy: Economic co-operation will be encouraged, but economic self-sufficiency in some areas as well. Economically, the country will not radically change. There will be more regulation of problemic markets, such as housing and, naturally, shady banks, and harsher punishments for corruption and money scandals.

International policy: The EU will be encouraged to become more democratic and decentralised. We will not accept a position as mere province of the Europe Empire.

Ex-colonial and Dutch-speaking countries will be approached friendly. The object is to turn them into allies.

There will be a neo-colonialist policy in the Third World, in response to that of China and India. We will make allies amongst native leaders, and make them our close friends who eventually become largely dependent on our aid, both military and economic, to the point where they become our puppets, and we can effectively run the country, far more effectively than they could hope to. This will all be largely shady, of course. It will be attempted to make this not noticable. Eventually we will have relationship with various countries in which they are dependent on us, and we can elavate them beyond their dependence, which we surely will, after gaining our worth from this dominance, in most cases natural resources. We will then send constructive aid to the country and help to aid them in becoming economically self-sufficient at least, whilst getting a few natural resources in return. As a result, we will have gained even more popularity in the country, and they will remain our ally for indefinite time. Colonialism has a bad name, but this situation has no losers. The target country has been helped and sees no harm, and we have gained and see no harm either.

though, I would stress the importance of a confederalistic structure for Belgium: no republic, no new states, Belgium formed by two parts.

    Default Re: Your own party?

The -I can't think of a nice name- Party.

    Country: Netherlands

    Policies:

    Deregulation/Anti-Paternalism:
We will get rid of useless and silly laws. For example the smoking ban in café's. This will be fully legalised. Some drugs (production, sales and use) will be legalised and taxed. Fireworks laws would be made far less strict: fireworks as sold in Belgium would be fully legalised between 29 december and 2 januari. Heavier firework (let's say: Polish) would be allowed to be sold to people with a license. Drinking of alcohol in public would be legalised. The speed limit on highways would be raised or abolished. Subsidisation of multicultural, gay, green ,religious or comparable festivals would be stopped. And all kinds of other silly laws will be abolished. I mean what does it matter if you carry a gun and ammo in the same bag??

    Decentalisation:
A substantial amounth of power would be taken away from the national government and handed over to the provinces and the local councils. Mostly about trivial matters because (some) differences in law would be bad for the economy and would cause confusion.
But matters like infrastructure, education, drugs, firearms, fireworks, local tax, environmental affairs and other things can be delegated to the lower governments.

A province should even be allowed to create it's own military although non would do that I guess.

    Freedom of speech:
Should not really be limited in my opinion, unless it theatens someone.

    Monarchy:
Would stay the same, but the King/Queen could have a vote in the Senate (76th seat out of current 75, when 50/50 King wins) or some other minor increase in political influence. Not to decrease democracy but to decrease populist influence and for symbolic reasons.

    Immigration:
Immigration should be restricted. New immigrant will only be allowed if they can offer something. So no uneducated poor immigrants who don't speak the language and know nothing about their new country. Language cources should be available in amabassies or over here. New immigrants will only recieve a Dutch Passport after they have lived here for a number of years (3, 4 or 5) while having a job or following an eductation with a maximun unemployment time of around half a year.

    Integration:
For new immigants see above section.
For immigrants who already live here basic integration (especially language) should be compulsory. The first generation should not have priority but especially the children of immigrants should be integrates as much as possible. Schools will play a central role. The government will not promote/subsidise segregation or foreign cultural things like festivals and organisations. Criminal immigants without Dutch passport or with two passports will be deported after a number of crimes (depends on what crimes ofcourse).
    No more 'positive' discrimination.

    Economy:
For some sectors deregularion, for other sectors no deregulation. While some sectors may require more regulation or even renationalisation. For example the NS (Rail).

Local governments must have the right to offer services that could be offered by the market if they see a need to do so. Just a matte of autonomy.

    Healthcare:
Should be a provincional matter, whether they want a compulsory minimum insurance, a sort of NHS or nothing at all, they decide.

    Patriotism:
Something that we as a people lack, it should be promoted on schools. Like learning the anthem. But this should not be overdone, not at all and not too much money should be spent on this.

    EU:
We should not be ruled by foreigner so therefore the EU would have to be reformed in a fashion as decribed by Open Europe. But this is probably impossible so therefore we should leave the EU but stay in the EEZ and the Euro (unless it collapses). The money saved will be put to good use.

A new article in the constitution will give us a binding referendum everytime a future government is trying to give away souvereinity.

    (Former) Colonies:
The BES islands (Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius) have planned tobecome special muncipalities but we think that they must become normal muncipalities in their own new 13th province. Alot of money will be invested in these islands to lure the other islands in this new province aswell (Curaçoa, Aruba and St. maarten). If other former colonies (Suriname or minor Indonesian islands) are interested in becoming a province this should be possible.

    Foreign policy:
Will be Netherlands-centic as opposed to US or EU centric.

No unneccesary appeasment of the USA, EU, Russia, China or the oil states. And we will maintain good relationships with most countries including Russia.
We will recognise South-Ossetia and Abkhazia.

    Military:
The budget will be raised to make the following reforms and purchases:

    In Dutch.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Just use a translator.

No traditional conscription but a Home Guard. The required personell will be attracted through good pay and extra's.
The Home Guard (and the Army) should hold regular joint exercises involving the locals and could offer volutary basic military practise to the citizens.
As described in the link the male 18+ population could be mobilised, the voluntary standing Home Guard (like the Norwegian) will provide the training for these new recruits is emergeny situations. Thus conscription will only be started in emergeny situations, and only to bolster the Home Guard not the other military branches.

    Foreign Aid:
Foreign aid will be decreased by 80%, most of the remaining money would be used for disaster relief.

    Taxation:
Some taxes would be brought to the provincional level.

The tax rates would be lowered as much as possible. But the ideal tax policies is still up for debate.
Maybe proportional tax would be a good thing???

Social mobility rather than social equality:
The governemt must create alot of social mobility. Even if you are born in the poorest family you should be able to do a a good study. One of the measures that will be taken is a ban on private middle schools because the basically sell high level diplomas to dumb children, this is the norm regarding private schools. It is unfair that people can buy a diploma for 10K a year so therefor these schools will be banned.

Given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe its true, or because they're afraid it might be true. Peoples' heads are full of knowledge, facts and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

    Icon1 Re: Your own party?

    The British Liberation Party

    Country: Britain

    Policies:

Military: Millitary expenditure should be increased, but only to a reasonable level. This country needs to be able to support a small, professional and highly-skilled armed force. No conscription except in the event of a dire emergency.

The millitary will not be promoted excessively, and war will be the last resort. However, we need a millitary to defend ourselves and the freedom of other human beings in countries like Burma, Sudan and Saudi Arabia. As such, we will continue with our current scale of recruitment.

We will decommission our strategic nuclear weapons. They are not necessary in the current geopolitical climate, and tend to shorten the lifespan of the human race. Tactical weapons will be kept, for use in dire circumstances only.

Monarchy: The monarchy will be maintained as is. They wield no real power and are not a threat to democracy in this country. They are good for promoting tourism and nostalgic patriotism.

The House of Lords needs to be reformed and made into an elected body. It is absurd that we still maintain this aristocratic institution.

Freedom of speech: Everybody will be able to voice their opinion without the threat of prosecution or legal action, with the exception of the following special cases:
    -Speech advocating murder

-Verbal assault. This includes racial and religious abuse, along with other hate speech. Saying that you hate Catholics, Asians or homosexuals is okay, but shouting this across the street at one is not.

-Raising false alarms, wasting police time and prank-calling the emergency services.

-Making slanderous claims against individuals or organisations. Accusitions that prove to be true, however, will be tolerated completely. English libel law is in dire need of reform.

    -Lying in advertising etc.

Immigration/integration: Immigration will not be reduced, but will be kept at the current level. Restrictions will be reduced or increased depending on the general level of influx. However, it shouldn't be so easy for illegal immigrants to enter. Illegal immigrants jump the queues and cheat legitimate, hard-working immigrants of their jobs. We need to be much stricter when we control their entry.

Also, Europeans should not be granted the unfair advantages they currently enjoy over potential migrants from Asia and Africa. Just because a country is on the same continent as us does not automatically entitle it's citizens to more rights.

As for intergration and culture, the only requirement will be that the prospective immigrant can speak English with a reasonable level of competence. We don't need to babysit people and tell them all about British culture. They can work that out for themselves from interaction with real people, not by writing essays or filling in papers.

Any attempt to force 'British values' or 'British cultural practices' on immigrants or their descendants will be regarded as a violation of their human rights. We find the idea of a 'Britishness' gestapo telling people how to dress, speak and act to be much more disturbing than a couple of women walking down the street in saris or niqabs!

Patriotism: Patriotism is pointless and primitive. A strong society is built on courtesy, lawfulness and cooperation, not some deranged devotion to real estate. It is not our business whether a person wants to say 'God save the Queen!' in toasts or if they throw darts at a picture of her, our business is in making this country run properly.

Economy: The economy should be more socialised, and big banks and businesses should be subject to more controls than now. However, a healthy free market is necessary for the success of any modern society, and as such we are not interested in bringing complete socialisation. A few formerly state-owned businesses may need to be deprivatised again, but society generally works as it is.

    International policy:
We need to withdraw from both NATO and the Special Relationship. Being shackled to another nation's ambitions and plans as we currently are is not conductive to success. We routinely get dragged through America's dirty wars with no benefit for ourselves. However, we are still willing to remain friendly towards the USA, and even become a non-NATO ally.

We need to cut our ties with dangerous rogue states such as Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Israel, amongst others. How can we maintain the moral high ground if we continue to associate ourselves with this riff-raff? The Saudis are the biggest supporters of Islamic radicalism in the world, friendship with Israel has brought us nothing more than hate and controversy and North Korea is just plain bonkers.

As for the EU, we regard European cooperation as being generally a good thing. However, the structure of the organisation needs to be looser and more democratic.

Finally, we need to stop giving in to Iceland. Seriously. We let them take our fishing rights in the Cod War, and recently their public just voted against giving back the money they owned to ours. What next? Will we join the Euro just because they want us to?

    Environment:
A total shake-up of current environmental thinking is in order. We are on the verge of a climatic catastrophe, and snake oil remedies like photovoltaic cells or biofuels are not going to solve anything. Let this age instead be the nuclear renaissance. We should rebuild our decining nuclear industry, and place heavy emphasis on the sciences behind waste disposal.
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Here's a few policies I would like to see (I don't know enough about economics and what not):

Government: Introduction of a Proportional Representation System, similar to that of Australia.

Military: An increase in military budget, and a reorganisation of the MOD to try and minimise bureaucracy on projects. This would involve a decrease in the number of MOD civilian staff. Maintenance of power projection capabilities and no more ignoring military calls for urgent equipment.

Foreign Affairs: A slight move towards Europe and a move away from the USA. However, not too much different from status-quo. Decrease in foreign aid. A move to try and decentralise the EU and no more Eastern European backwaters to be accepted. Get more involved with the EU, but oppose moves of further integration and loss of sovereignty. Give the people a referendum in the future for acts like the Lisbon treaty.
Don't get involved in any more wars like Iraq and Afghanistan unless they are going to be done right from the offset and have a valid reason. Basically, avoidance of getting pulled into a long, drawn-out shambles.

Drugs: Much more liberal then the status quo. Legalisation of Cannabis, Mushrooms and LSD and an end to the war on drugs. Decriminalise drugs for personal consumption (As in you won't be arrested for having a small amount on you- similar to Portugal).

Liberties: Stop the continuing infringement of civil liberties. No more photographers being arrested, no more police abusing anti-terrorist powers to tackle petty crimes or target protesters, no more abuse of the surveillance state.

Immigration: Large reduction in immigration. More moves to integrate current immigrant population, and give visa's to those illegals already here. Only accept skilled immigrants who can actually contribute.

Enviroment and Energy issues: Renewal of some nuclear power stations. However, no overreliance on Nuclear power. More offshore windfarms and more taking advantage of tidal flows. Support of EU proposals for solar field in the Sahara. Small things like TV's not to have standby lights.

    Hmmm interesting thread.

Party: National Union Party of Canada

    Policies:

    Economics

    - The government would take a decidedly interventionist approach, closely regulating the financial industry, and nationalizing the oil and gas industry. Furthermore, laws would be passed restricting foreign ownership of key industries to a 33% share in the companies. These industries would be iron and steel, mining, and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and forestry. Foreign ownership would be completely banned in space/aerospace, defence/military, telecommunications, banking, railways, seaports/airports, and health care services. FIRA would be brought back.

-The federal government would be committed to free trade and low tariffs with responsible trade partners, but would leave NAFTA due to sovereignty concerns.

-Infrastructure spending would be increased, to help pay for a national high-speed rail system and electricity grid.

-Corporate taxes, especially on large corporations would rise to about 35% from the current low 20's.

-Manufacturing and raw materials processing would be encouraged in an effort to reduce dependence on imports while creating a domestic manufacturing base.

-The government would encourage new businesses and entrepreneurs through subsidies and smart investment. This would be particularly targeted at renewable energy and high tech/information industries.

-Would also create a new all-Canadian vehicle manufacturer through government investment, and once the corporation became profitable, would sell it off partially for profit. This could be done with many other industries as well.

-Policies to encourage trade east-west within Canada will be put in place, de-emphasizing trade with the US and focusing on building internal economic links and a domestic market.

    Social/Domestic Policy

    - The federal government will remain committed to universal health care for Canadians, and will attempt to streamline the system to reduce bureaucracy, costs, and waiting times, while attracting doctors and nurses by providing bonus pay according to successful patient treatments.

-Plans for a National Pharmacare Plan would be drawn up to reduce medications costs for Canadians.

-Family allowance/child subsidies would rise dramatically in an effort to boost the sagging birth rate to replacement levels, while immigration from outside of Europe would be reduced slowly over a period of years.

-More difficult citizenship tests would be brought in, focusing on politics, history, and culture. Immigrants would not be eligible for citizenship until they had lived here for at least 8 years.

-Through land grants and tax reductions the federal gov't will support the settlling of the north and the development of infrastructure in these areas.

-Children in school will learn that Canada is a union of English and French culture, and that this should be respected. Schools and families will be encouraged to send kids on exchanges to go live with French speaking families for Anglophones or English speaking families for Francophones. The goal will be to get kids to see other parts of the country, meet new people, learn the other language, respect the other national culture, and have a great experience.

    Military

    - The military would be given additional funding to develop a series of domestically designed and produced equipment, and also to attract the additional manpower it needs to work properly. The Canadian Forces would again be split into the three services.

    Foreign Policy

    - Canada would remain committed to peace and humanitarian work in poor countries, although aid for aid's sake would be eliminated. Our aid would be spent on actual physical improvements such as schools, hospitals, wells, dams, etc, not given to corrupt governments.

-Canada would reduce its status in NATO to observer, but would maintain friendly relations with our friends in Europe.

-We would remain committed to the defence of northern North America, and would not leave NORAD. However, we would repudiate any treaties/agreements giving the US the right to put troops on our soil except with our express invitation.

-We would most certainly not take part in any wars except for our own direct selfish interests [which means pretty much not at all], not to appease the US and NATO by putting our troops in unnecessary and costly wars.

-We would invite the Turks and Caicos Islands, Bermuda, and any other British West Indies territories, to become territories within the confederation. We would also invite Greenland to join Canada as a territory and leave Denmark.

-We would pursue a policy of reinforcing national sovereignty in the Arctic, with the establishment of military bases, underwater surveillance, economic development, and research.

If I had my own party, I'd cry if I wanted to.

But in all honesty I would never want to get involved in Greek politics.

Yes, friends, governments in capitalist society are but committees of the rich to manage the affairs of the capitalist class.

K, well I think you were asking a question about how I felt toward the monarchy? If so, I'm not really decided either way to be truthful.

    The Venezuelan Fascist Party

    Country: Venezuela

    Policies:

Military: Militarism is to be implemented. Conscription will be put back up and the key to the nations safety is the military size. Fortifications on our borders will be placed, the army will always be on full alert, etc etc. Military parades will be done once a month not to annoy soldiers, or people about us showing our might! Gun technology is essencial to our success, and so we will contract private companies to do so. We will nationalize a few areas of the private sector if they do not comply to the countries needs, but generally privatization is to be taken into account.

Immigration/integration: Immigration shall be taken very seriously. In depth-analysis of immigrants will be taken into account, and psychological tests will be made to determine if they are indeed worthy of entering the state as foreigners. However nationalism is to be taken highly too, and so immigration may sometimes be frowned upon, because some immigrants bring bad customs (trust me, it is seen a lot here) but we will be semi-open to highly intellectual individuals, such and such.

Patriotism: A strong society is built upon quality much rather then quality. The state excersises its religious views but not radically. Patriotism is not pointless. It shows one love for the country, and the struggle to better it. People should feel sympathetic to the entity of the state, but even more so to the country itself.

Economy: Citizens should be able to have economic prosperity, and not told what they should work for or should not, however certain censored areas of the adult industry must be censored to Children until the appropriate age. Also schools should be able to teach these kids real life issues, and open their eyes more. No more protesting schools or stuff like the pledge of Alliegence. It was there when this country was founed so you must learn to respect it, like it or not! The economy focus's on corporatism and the struggle and unification of various industries, but still of course private. We thus, reject all forms of Communism!

International policy: We recognize the states of Prussia, Imperial Russia, and Imperial France as our goals. We want Europe, back like it was, perfectly fine. Now the world is corrupt like never before, and we must stop it! We will form a coalition with neighbooring countries, particularly Colombia, Honduras, and Chile to form a vast alliance, that will both benefit our international relations, but economy!

Environment: The enviroment cause will be taken seriously. New research on less harming chemicals will be implemented in the industry. We will still use things such as Haber's theories, but still find ways to reduce enviromental damage. We thus excersise that litering, killing animals, and constructing on illegal or national park terrain will be taken with a big fine.
His highness, þeþurn I, Keng of Savomyr!
