    Icon3 What feature would you like to see implemented in the next TW game...

    general discussion but i'll start us off:

    as we are all no doubt well aware, tactical battle map AI in the TW games as a general rule sucks i propose the following as a step in the direction of a remedy.

    during a grand campaign turn, a battle commences between the players forces and those of an enemy, the information for this battle (forces, map etc) are uploaded to a central server, which then applies a matchmaking sytem to other players across the planet who are in a quick battle lobby, or equivalent.

    players achieve command stars on their profiles according to past wins/losses in the same way that generals achieve command stars. subsequently, appropriately ranked players can take command of a grand campaign enemy force to fight off the originals players forces.

    obviously there are some flaws with this system, wait times would have to be set before control reverts to AI default, random disconnects leaving battles under AI command etc but i feel a system like this could be a HUGE step in the right direction, heading towards intelligent, engaging and most of all tactical battles.

    Has already been a thread like this, but ah well, they're good discussion stuff

    I'd like a RPG-element. Being able to "create" your own legions/armies. Here's how it would be like :

    You have to build an academy of some kind in your town. When this has done, you need to pay x denarii, and then you can open the 'recruit scroll'. First it's just a guy with a white shirt. But you can equip him with a wide variety of arms, and the better arms you give him, the more the guy will cost. Say for instance I equip him with nothing but a wooden shield and a bronze sword. He'd cost like 130 denarii to recruit. If I, however, equip him with platemail, an iron shield, iron sword, helmet, bow, ... he'd cost 400 denarii. Etc..

    Ofcourse also being able to name the unit how you like it

    Also raiding is a feature I'd like to see implemented

    Ability to found new cities and destroy old ones to the ground. And also somekind of new province system. So when you capture a city, you dont automatically control a huge area of territory or something like that.

    What I miss most from RTW onwards are the options in the pre-battle screen to leave the province or retrait to your city/castle. And strategic units like priests or spies should again be able to travel from harbour to harbour without using your navy.
    Atleast with the diplomats this issue was improved well in ETW and NTW with deleting them and using only a screen.

    What exactly? You can already conquer a city, destroy buildings to gain money and retreat to your own provinces.

    I would like to see a system where you can create/destroy cities as you wish (This will cost alot of money!) Also A system where you can create new provinces using a 'Pencil' for every set amount of land you draw will cost lets say 2000 credits.

    Annexation. By occupation or diplomacy you could absorb a town of an enemy province into an adjacent friendly province. If you occupy the region capital everything returns to their normal boundaries, but it would make it possible to eat away at your enemy's territory without totally wiping them out.

    Descisive battles that actually matter, army morale, and an alternative army recruitment and upkeep model which doesn't involve stacks wandering around.

    I second Graphic on annexation. I'd like the diplomatic options to be fleshed out more in general really.

    You conquer a province by defeating the enemy army. What exactly can we change to make battles more decisive? Or do you mean less battles and a glorious victory can bring you not only the current fought off province but also neighbouring ones, when the enemy is begging for peace? This would need a complete new and improved diplomatic AI.

    What would you suggest as alternative recruitment? And how can we avoid stacks wandering around?

    I'd settle for a strategic/campaign AI that wasn't suicidal and actually knew what the hell it was doing.

    I forgot what that game is called, but there was this strategy game where if an army is in low morale after recent defeats, chances are that they might disobey their faction and surrender without a battle ! I like that to be implemented. Also, if they ever implement Princesses in games again, there should be a feature where you can dispute succession of the throne of a nation if the your faction leader's mother or wife is the princess of that nation. Once you successfully enforces your claim, you should be given the control of the said faction ad the recruitment of their units. There should also be the ability to 'borrow' your allies' soldiers. Meaning that you reaches a deal with your ally that a certain stack of troops should be under your control for x period of time and when time's up they revert back to their control. I found the lack of coordination between allies irritating. Some nations such as Spain in N:TW and E:TW practically did nothing whilst being my ally. Lastly, if you conquer a nation, their unique units should be available to you.

    i miss the feature from rtw is that you can go to a city in non battle view its very relaxing looking around the place and the views it had

    Who wouldn't want to conquer Asia leaving a string of Alexandrias in their wake?

    I would like it where you would be able to command your reinforcements if you allow the AI to control them. Like telling them to attack this position or that one, or to stay back, or to retreat, stuff like that.

    Debris from walls can crush soldiers. It was in Rome, but why not in any other game?

    Citys in the distance if fighting near one.....i miss that from rome also.
