Why do all the factions start with full stacks at all their settlements when I start a campaign, it bugs me because it gives them huge armies off the start and it takes me 10 or 20 turns to get a decent trained army. Just wondering if there was a way to change that or is that just how it is??????

Maybe play on an easier difficulty? I play on medium and I've never encountered that before? Although you probably want to play on very hard, but everyone starting off as even...hmm...not too sure.

It is the same on all difficulties, every faction's regions capitals are full stacks, I am going to get a clean download of DLV and the BB2.48Update and see if that helps

Yes that is DLV. Scary huh?

The AI needs them to expand and to ward off players that would try to destroy them too early.

Manage your diplomacy, and your kingdom, and usually there's no problem getting built up enough.

I wouldn't recommend modding the game before you've learnt to play.

The game is very random indeed. One campaign you can do everything by the book and still struggle for many dozens of turns then another campaign of the same faction/difficulty level things can randomly go your way and expansion is easy.
