Rule Number One: Never Install version 1.1. It is incompatible with 1.2.
That said, you have to have a complete, clean install to get this game to work correctly and updaing does not help.
Check your dvds real good. clean them up. You get it installed good, all your Medieval2 updates are on the Kingdoms dvd. Put it next and let it do its job.
Good luck.
I did what you said clean install of med then tried to patch from kingdom dvd still cannot install 1.2 patch so cannot install kingdoms.........still having crc issues on med installseven after cleaning dvd very frustrating.

Well here is the message I am getting,
crc error:The File C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total war\packs\data_2,doesn't match the file in the setups, cab File. The Medium which you are running the set up may be corrupted;contact your software vendor.
Is this a bad dvd or what thanks for help....
If it's a bad dvd, contact Sega support. They are the ones that have that info.
well i tried this on older computer and the dvd installed fine, no issues do you have any ideas hears what i have on knew computer i am trying to install game on.System Microsoft Windows Xp Professional Version 2002 service pack 3, Computer Amd Phenom(tm) 9600 Quad-Core.
Processor 2.31GHz.3.25of ram
any ideas why installs on older with know crcs and does on this new comp.
Can you put the old drive in the new computer? The new drive maybe just too new.
Would a new medieval 2 game work do you think or not?![]()
I think it would be easier using the old drive or at least to me it would be. Once I had to do it for something else.
This is offtopic but here it goes, anyway.
I have two dvd-drives, one is about seven, and the other is three. Old by today's standards. I like Harry Potter even at my old age. My system is good enough I can sit here and watch dvd movies on my 19" LED screen. The first four movies I could play in the old drive. The last two I had to play in the newer drive because the codecs had changed in midstream.
Because of that and I know this old game works in the old drive, the old drive I would use. My thinking is the installer has not changed, no matter when the game's dvds were made.
Have you tried looking for an update for your DVD-ROM? Maybe there is a firmware/software patch that will let you use that disc in your drive? If you can use the game in one drive but not another then you have a hardware issue and the disc is probably fine. Good luck!
Piss Poor Tech Support of Last Resort
I swap dvds drives out and still got crcs, again the game installs, but you cannot update to 1.2 I tried the pio thing same thing. Just do not no what to do if it is firmware issue how do i get new driver this is a new computer i am trying to install game on.System Microsoft Windows Xp Professional Version 2002 service pack 3, Computer Amd Phenom(tm) 9600 Quad-Core.

What other programs do you have on your harddrive? I smell copy protection.

What programs do you have on this computer you don't have on the other one? That should make a shorter list. Any EA games like GTA San Andreas or Battlefield2? Daemon? Alcohol? Limewire? Only examples the list gets longer.
I only have three games, empire, napoleon, conquest which i just put on was going on before i added that, avast anti virus, steam is on there of course malware bytes for starters
Put a ticket in at Sega support. I have run out of ideas right now but if I get one, I'll post it.
