    Default Protectorates in Empire

I was wondering, some factions start the game with a protectorate or two under their rule. In previous Total War titles, your protectorate or vassal (as they were called) gave you a percentage of their treasury each turn, preventing them from going over a few thousand at any time. In Empire, this doesn't seem to be the case, as far as I can tell and from reading the financial/faction summary, you receive 0 money from your protectorates. Is this working as intended or a game bug? Surely the smaller nation should pay tribute to the larger and superior protector nation, otherwise there is no benefit at all to having protectorates, might as well just destroy them if you go to war.. any thoughts on this?
"Muscovy", as its rulers have previously called it, is a sleeping giant, with age-old traditions and ways of doing things. Here, the feudal way of life has become so entrenched that the serfs are as tied to the land as cattle, and with almost as few rights. It is a vast, deeply conservative and religious country: Mother Russia and the Orthodox Church are the two pillars of national belief. The Tsar may be the father of his people, but by tradition and practice he is a stern parent. Ivan the Terrible was well named, and he has not been the only ruler with an iron will. Russia is the "Third Rome". The last bastion of Orthodox Christianity.

Declare war on a faction and all their protectorates are obligated to join the war on their side. It doesn't work properly when playing as a protectorate through a mod. I oddly don't see any income lose when playing as one, or any gain when having one. Other than the war deal there is no point of protectorates from what I've seen thus far. Though playing as one ie Saxony through modding is a bloody pain! Hanouver, Prussia, Austra, and two other states... all at war invading my poor Saxony!! lol

are you sure? I started a campaign as the ottoman empire and i distinclty rember defending the chrimeans because i was getting some kind of money from them, but idk if it was trade or tribute. If they dont give you anything then i would say yes, destroy them immediatly, especially as the ottomans take the barbary states and if you want the chrimean, because neathier one can defend themselves.

The income from your protectorate shows in the "other income" part (or it's something similar) along with any income from piracy.

True, You gain 50% of your protectorate´s taxes income, that in the case of chrimeans is 200-300 a turn. It´s usually better to protectorate single region factions than controlling the territory directly. You gain the taxes % + trade route with them profit, while saving in garrisoning costs + the protectorate will mantain his own army and go to war with you...
