Default Ah crap, I fergets how to do this.

Guuuuuys, (that's my whiny voice). I forget how to go about doing thiiiiiiiis (more whiny). I'm not sure if should post it here or the FOE forums but here's what's up, I'm old and forgetful:

It's been years since I've been back in the RTR mode. I do that, leave a game fer a bit then come back to it. Glad to see lots O' names still here that I recognize (Marcus, Candalerius, Florin etc...). Having been a way sooo long my memory of duplicate installs is shabby at best. But I'm loving FOE at the moment.

Main question: How to install the latest RTR-PE using the BI.exe AFTER I've already installed RTR VII-FOE.
Euipment: Old school discs, i.e. The 3 RTW discs and 1 disc for BI (no gold editions/collections etc) both games bought separately (i.e a box for each RTW and the BI expansion).
Current Install: is RTR VII-FOE in my C:\Program File\Activision\Rome - Total War folder.
Extra Info: If it helps to know, I do have a copy of RTW unpatched files and folders on my desktop. I copied and pasted it there after I installed the 3 discs of RTW as I thought I might need 'em for this purpose.

To the person who can refresh my shabby memory on how to do this, a case of Ravenna's finest mead will go... or Budweiser.

Thanks in advance for any insight and great job everyone on keeping this sucker alive and fresh for this long! (I mean the game, not me)

    Cheers,

    X

Is your FOE mod-switch? then you can just install your RTRPE mod-switch version into your RTW folder ...

I think FOE only comes in the modswitch variety

As long as you download and install the modswitch version of Platinum you should be good to go

If you already have FOE installed then you just need to download the mod switch version of RTRPE(the one posted by Maced0n) and you can install it in the same game folder. Both of the mods being completely mod foldered to my knowledge they should not interact with each other. To use the BI exe you don`t need to do anything special. The current RTRPE puts a RTRPE-BI(or something like this) shortcut on your desktop and you just need to start the game using that.

Vunderbar, I did download 2 versions of RTR PE, but I'll have to check.
If the "mod switch" version is the way to go and it doesn't overwrite the files (I'm assuming puts a folder called RTR-PE or some such in the same directory as FOE) than that's super.
    appreciate all the help guys.
    I will let ya know.

And Ave Florin, loooooong time no see.

    Hope it's this one: RTR%20Platinum%20Edition%201.9.exe from http://www.rometotalrealism.org/down...plat-modswitch

Hmm well, install seems to be workin. I went for the reset bat.exe as it seemed familiar. I only hope I didn't have to update RTW with 1.3 and 1.5 patches as FOE doesn't require that. It's just a straight RTW + BI + BI 1.6 setup. Some of the instructions on one page say you don't need the RTW 1.3 and 1.5 patches (if yer playin with the BI.exe and some other forum posts are lets say..."less clear") .

Yes, the mod switch version should install in a RTRPE sub-folder afaik. Installing BI v1.4 over RTW upgrades RTW too to v1.3 and installing the BI v1.6 patch also upgrades RTW to v1.5 so you don`t need the RTW patches.

Hazaa, thanks fer the clarification florin. I see now. With all the patches and being away so long I'll be bookmarking this thread, that one sentence of yours clarifies all. All went went well 'cept I had no music, but then saw there were no musics files in the RTRPE data/sound folder, But Marcus' music mod solved all that. In short, all is workin' well, so thank you all for the info!
