I highly, highly doubt it.. But is there any chance that the Hasmonean Kingdom would be added in a later update as an emergent faction, or perhaps a different campaign with starting at 180 BC instead of 280 bc?

RTR VII does not cover that area of the map. That's gonna be a no.
Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS!(Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.
As for the Hasmoneon Kingdom, the answer is no. We dont focus on the middle east in RTR FOE or RTR VII(which is currently in developement).
As for the later campaign starting date, well this is actaully not very possible. Changing the starting date requires a change in the entire mod, possible taking a year or more depending on how in depth we go. With RTR VII under production already it just isnt possible mate.
However, in RTR VII we do extend the focus of the FOE map to cover Greece, Balkans, Parts of Germania and Scythia, and Gaul.
Rome Total Realism Public Relations Representative
"We saved so much money on toilet paper" - Remlap, after giving advice on proper wiping technique.
ExRM might be able to cater for that - but they most definitely won't be a stand alone faction, emergent or otherwise.
You'll probably want to look for a different mod. Total realism and the sub-mods based off it primarily concern themselves with the 3rd/2nd century BC.
I think there is a mod called Judaea Total War, focused on the rise of Israel under Moses. It's not the Hasmodean Kingdom, but it might be something for you.
RTR-VII Team Leader and Leader of Fortuna Orbis, an RTR Submod
"History has only one concern and aim, and that is the useful; which again has one single source, and that is truth." -Lucian of Samosata
Fortuna Orbis Beta is released!
From 77BC Mod:
Ioudaia will be a difficult faction to play. To the north are the powerful armies of Tigranes Megas Basileus on campaign in Phoenicia. The Armenian king eyes the hard won territory of the Jewish people and diplomatic exchanges indicate an invasion can be anticipated. Nabatean raiders to the east also stretch the resources of the state. Internal discord is an ever present threat with the increasingly Hellenistic rule of the Hasmoneans causing resentment amongst the faithful. Beware of revolts and the danger of civil war.
However there may be opportunities to the south where strong Jewish communities are established in the lands of the Ptolemaioi. The splendour of the synagogue in Alexandria is a beacon of light in the diaspora.
The forces available to Ioudaia are necessarily limited and a heavy reliance on gentile mercenaries is unavoidable. The best soldiers come from the military settlement system known as the cleruchy and include the elite spear armed Hectontomachi infantry. Properly led a Jewish army is capable of emulating the earlier successes of Judas Maccabaeus the Hammer who prevailed over the Seleucids.
His revolt during the second century BCE was a popular struggle for Jewish religious and political independence. Complete autonomy from Seleucid rule was finally attained with the death of Antiochus VII Sidetes in 129 BCE. The new Hasmonean state was the last for the Jewish nation for two thousand years. During this period a treaty of friendship and alliance was signed with Rome.
The subsequent expansion of Jewish territory involved a new phenomenon – the conversion of neighbouring peoples. The communities of Idumea and Ituraea were in part subjected to enforced Judaization.
During the period immediately before 77 BC:Twilight of the Republic Alexander Jannaues embarked on a campaign of Transjordanian expansion. A reverse suffered at the hands of the Nabateans did not prevent him wrecking Pella and overrunning numerous other towns. Gaza was also brutally reduced. Diplomatic intrigues with the Ptolemaioi featured during his reign although no exchanges with Rome are recorded. On his death in 76 BCE the kingdom was bequeathed to his widow Salome Alexandra.
The local population resented the Hellenistic tendencies of rulers like Alexander Jannaues and Salome Alexandra. Their reliance on foreign mercenaries was partly the result of the related disharmony in Ioudaia. Jewish society was further fractured by religious sects and disputes that made strong central authority difficult to impose. The Pharisees who dominated public life under Salome Alexandra became objects of widespread rancour. Their disputes with the Sadducees about law and theology were both bitter and protracted. It would take the intervention of Rome to impose a settlement of sorts on a people worn out by internal discord.
The Kingdom of Judea will be a hard faction to play at first due to your aggressive neighbours. To the East lie your allies the Nabatean's, but for how how long? They look with hungry eyes upon Gaza & the Inscense trade which pours through it's port. The to the south the sons of the pharoes altough weakened still posses enough power & greed to claim back their empire of old. To the north are rebels - fragments of the once mighty Seleucid Kingdom & beyond them the expansionist Tigran of Armenia. Rome also lurks across the sea in Asia Minor...........
Your task is far from hopless, You hold three potentially great cities. Your armies may not be as powerful as those around you, but your militia can hold their own & your elites will do you proud. Judean gold will also pay for mercenaries to hold your frontiers.
Judea has been an immensley fun faction to work upon & play test. We are planning a little something different with mercenaries for them as historically somewhere in the region of 50% of the armies where hired soldiers. You will gather from the above picture you have 6 units to choose from the rest will be mercs.
So will you lead the Ioudaia to victory & countless wealth or will you persish in the wilderness........
Our next project, First Man in Rome, will feature again the Hasmoniaioi, but as it is going to be some time before the mod is released, here you have the link to 77BC - Twilight of the Republic
