Default Should women be on the frontline?

Basically should women serving in the military be serving on the frontline in combat situations? and should women be in charge of squads of men? if the hit the fan would you prefer your squad leader to be a man or a woman?

My opinion is the ONLY role a woman should be doing in the military is pencil pushing at the home country. Because IMO a man in a combat situation wouldn't crumble under pressure as easy as women, and if the hit the fan I would rather follow a man then a woman.

Because women can`t be tough, right.

If happens i`d rather follow the most competent and rational leader.. Be it a woman or a man. If someone passes the military education he should be qualified to serve on the front.

I say no. As I have said a million times yet this topic always re-emerges days after the previous finally dies. However, not because I don't think a girl will lose her cool faster than a guy when hits the fan. There's no accurate way to guage that with any human being on planet if they'll be cool in that type of situation. I've seen the biggest baddest looking dudes turn into crybabies when things get violent.

By putting women on the front line, you're putting men's lives at risk. I imagine that they'd be a burden rather than an asset.

Depends. The "distraction" that could be caused is an valid point against women fighting on the front, unlike those given in the OP.

It's not, because you don't care in such an environment.

It's like being at a gynaecologist, but hardcore.

Really, you think that people don't?
"History shows that the presence of women has had a devastating impact on the effectiveness of men in battle," wrote John Luddy in July 27, 1994, for the Heritage Foundation backgrounder.
"For example, it is a common misperception that Israel allows women in combat units. In fact, women have been barred from combat in Israel since 1950, when a review of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War showed how harmful their presence could be. The study revealed that men tried to protect and assist women rather than continue their attack. As a result, they not only put their own lives in greater danger, but also jeopardized the survival of the entire unit. The study
further revealed that unit morale was damaged when men saw women killed and maimed on the battlefield," Luddy said.
I guess the Israelis are just wrong then.

There are a lot of reasons why this is a bad idea, more than I can enumerate here. Women are a distraction or burden for many men on the frontlines, they aren't as physically tough, probably can't cope with as extreme mental stress, and I'd hate to see what happens to them when they get captured by the enemy.

If a country is at war and in desperate need of troops, why should an entire class of people be rejected based simply on their gender? Ask yourself this "If the enemy is attacking, would you rather have a woman fighting with you or fight alone?"

The Soviets had thousands of women soldiers during WWII (according to wiki "800,000 women who served in the Soviet military during World War 2, of which nearly 70% saw front line action").
If the soul is impartial in receiving information, it devotes to that information the share of critical investigation the information deserves, and its truth or untruth thus becomes clear. However, if the soul is infected with partisanship for a particulat opinion or sect, it accepts without a moment’s hesitation the information that is agreeable to it.—Ibn Khaldun.

When the fate of the nation is at hand, then yes. The US and the other western powers are not in that position, and so Women shouldnt be there.

And the women were so effective and unproblematic that the soviets decided to allow women to serve as frontline soldiers even after the war! SAme with the Israelis!

In desperate situations, you call out everyone: boys [tweenagers/teenagers], old men, and women. But in a regular conflict like the U.S. is in now, its not necessary.

Some women could definitely handle it. I see no problem with those women in combat roles, but only the right women.

No, men are inherently better soldiers/fighters. Women should serve as aides during war.

Unless it was an all female army or unit, then no. Too many complications and its not needed.

No, I just don't like the idea of women having to do such a dangerous task. I know some can handle it but this is one thing they shouldn't have

I'm sorry but your wording is really wrong. No person should be on the front line. This is not a should or shouldn't discussion but a can or can't and they certainly can.
