    Default Regarding steam...

Hey guys, now i know there is a sticky about this but i've tried and it doesn't seem to be working.

I downloaded Rome Total War off steam earlier today because i lost my disk and uninstalled it before. I decided i'd download RTR again so searched the website and just downloaded the "6.0 Gold/1.9 Platinum" edition, nothing else. Now, i'm just wondering do i need to download FoE aswell?, i only want to play the main story so didn't think i'd have to?. Thanks for any help

Hi Danny, welcome to TWC and the RTR forums.

You should be aware that RTR 6 Gold will not work with the Steam copy of RTW. This is because it was designed to work with an earlier version of RTW (patched to 1.2) while the Steam version of RTW will be patched to 1.5 (or 1.6 if you went for Barbarian Invasion as well).

Therefore, if you have Rome Total War you will need to use the "mod foldered" version of RTR Platinum Edition. If you want to use FOE, or TIC, then you will need Barbarian Invasion (BI) as well.

Yeah it has BI on the download aswell. I know this might be asking a lot but could you give me the link for the right download and give me a step by step way of installing it and getting it to work? lol

OK, go to the first post of this thread for the downloads. I would then check the "Integrity of your Cache" to make sure that your version of Rome is "clean" (being a Steam user I am assuming you know what that is and how to do it).

Then download and install FOE 1.1 and the FOE 1.3 Patch, then following exactly the instructions in the FAQ. Hopefully that should get you running.

Sounds like a corrupt download. Try again from another mirror.

Also, i thought it might be the patches on the game. So i tried to download patch 1.5 for RTW and it says that it wont work due to my copy being RTW:Gold?.

RTW Gold on steam is fully patched. No need to download any for it.

Right on the RTR install set up, when i click to install it says "Your version of RTW appears to be incorrect. This mod requires RTW version, or RTW:BI version 1.6". It still lets me carry on if i click "ok"?

Try running it on regular RTW. Other than that I'm honestly not sure.

Check your steam/steamapps/common/rome total war gold folder.

Does it have a folder named RTR or RTRPE?

Just launced the RTW and it is still vanilla version. Just checked the steam files and it has a folder named "RTR" and another named "RTRPE"

Type -mod:RTRPE instead of -mod:RTR in the launch options and see what happens.
