    Default How to add other factions generals to my own

    Hello all, i wish to know how to do this, because i would like to recruit to Eriador faction Boromir, Legolas and Gimli, to play as the fellowship until 1.5 patch releases.Is this possible? if so, how? thanks

    Its possible yes. The easiest way it is to let these character spawn right at the beginning of map instead of recruiting them via buildings (barracks etc.). What you basically need to do is (in summary):
    • Open EDU, find these units give and them also the ''Eriador ownership'', which are the ''Turks'' btw
    • Open descr_strat in ...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
    • Find the units and copy their lines to the ''Eriador'' section. Make some changes here and there, for instance Boromir can't also be the heir for Eriador since there is already one for this faction, etc.
    Here is some background info for what files in which folders you need to mod (skip the EDB-part). Good luck.

    You'll also have to add the names of the generals you add to Eriador in descr_names.

    Thats because you didn't make the necessary changes in descr_strat (like I suggested in my earlier post) . Let me take a look at for instance Legolas. He is still heir while Rich is also heir, remember the example with Boromir? Also he has some friends with him (2 units of silvan archer). Eriador can't have elven archer unless you would also make them available to this faction. As for the position he would spawn I would choose something similiar (x & y coordinates; see red part) to the other Eriador generals (for instance Aragorn). Now make these changes also for the other copied generals and when you have a ctd when you start TATW, take a look @ system.log.txt located in: ...\Medieval II Total War\logs to see what you did wrong.

    OK i did the changes as above explained and it works, but 1 last problem, in campaign map, Legolas,Gimli and Boromir have the gandalf strat model and when i get into a battle map these units and their respective bodyguards looks white.Do i have to modify this issue in descrmodelstrat and descrmodelbattle?

    I always get attached to my generals and even role-play a bit, so reading this inspired me to make a little addition to Rhûn even though I have never done a bit of modding in my life.

    "Weakened and separated, the Easterling tribes require a strong and clever man to unite them, and carry out the Dark Lord's plans."

    Sauron would see how important a mission this is and who better to entrust it to than one of his most powerful servants (second only to the witch-king himself) Khamûl - who just so happens to have been an actual King of Rhun before his corruption by one of the rings of power. (ok maybe its not so lore accurate, but i don't mind Rhûn Kataphracts + Nazgul = epic)

    I managed to get just about everything working, even the immortal nazgul script, but I'm not sure how to fix the "title" you see when you hover over the general on the map. Anyone know how to change this?

    Have you added Khamul to the Easterling names in descr_names.txt? if not open that file and add Nazguli to Venice

    Yeah, I've done that. The name works fine but the "title" is wrong, I've seen other "hero units" with custom titles but I have no idea how to go about creating one. I'm a noob with zero experience at any of this - I mostly just looked at the other units and tried to copy what was already there with a few changes.

    Anybody knows if in battle_models the name of the following units: Gondor infantry Bodyguard,
    Noble bodyguards (dwarves) and Elf bodyguards(silvan elves) are these or are the vanilla MTW2 names??
    If are the vanilla ones, wich names?

    How can i change the strat map model generals? All the other stuff is done, works perfect in battle map the changes still the strat model problem, Gimli, Legolas and Boromir have the Gandalf model
