Default converting religion - technical question

Been trying to figure this one out. When converting a region to your own religion, i have several regions with one church and 1 missionary in each, however, they give different conversion rate, all from 1,3 to 2,3 % per turn if i remember correctly, and i cant figure out why this is so or how it works.

Is it possible to "calculate" the conversion rate:

    1) Does a church etc give a fixed conversion rate based on the level of the building?
    2) Do church conversion accumulate? Will 2 churches in the same region be faster?
    3) Do conversion from missionaries stack? i.e are there any point in having more then 1 missionary in 1 region?

I don't know about the effect of several missionaries or several churches, but I know that a missionary and a church stack for a better effect atleast.

One likely reason for your variations is that the population of the region has an effect on the conversion rate though.

Hordes of missionaries, as well as building many churches, are both very effective ways to convert the populace. Missionaries can convert fast, the churches provide lasting happiness.

The present faith of the population does play a major factor in the conversion rate, as well as population size.

Did some testing and it doesnt seem like missionaries stack. Had 5 missionaries in a region with a conversion rate of 2,3. Removed all but 1 missionary and the conversion rate was 2,2 the next round and continued to drop with 0,1 each round.

That would be a shame as they always did in the other games. I've got 5 in morocco because it was taking forever, and it would be disappointing to find I've wasted 20 turns with most of them!
