    Default Problem with "Royal Justice" thingy

    So here is my problem. I have a disloyal general, that is in my capitol, with the king. And at the beginning of the new turn, i get the "Royal Justice" pop up, but not once, but twice. And then, when i go to the list scrolls, and click on the said general, nothing happens.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thrown into dungeon
    Nobles that have the trait "Disobedient" must travel to the capitol to seek an audience with the King
    to receive a pardon. If they end their turn in the capitol with a building >= dungeon, and the King is
    present, then a window will popup “Royal justice”.
    Open the character overview panel and click on the disobedient character. A window will pop up
    “dungeon or royal pardon ?” and you have to decide:
    - throw the character into the dungeon (the disloyal Noble will receive the trait "Thrown in the
    Dungeon"...essentially immobile + other bad traits, until released (% chance of release each
    turn, with average stay in the Dungeon being 5 years (10 turns)).
    - Give the royal pardon and bribe him with 3000 Fl.
    Don’t put several disobedientgenerals at the same time into the settlement or the script
    mechanism willl not work correctly !
    Just making sure you're doing it right. That's from the manual.

    Yep I do it exactly as stated yet I too can never get it to work

    I did it that way, and the first time it worked. When i tried with the second one, it didn't.

    I'm not sure what the issue is. I haven't had any of my generals become disloyal yet. I'll try to get one or two to become so, and see if it works for me, unless someone else can confirm it stops working.

    hey guys,

    also playing this great mod and have the same problem as described in the first post! i also get the popup, sometimes ones, sometimes twice and when i follow the steps proposed in the manual nothing happens.
    interesting: the same holds for the "retirement" thing. i also get a popup, but can't retire generals!

    does anyone know how to solve that problem? any information you need?

    greets,
    danny =)

    I can confirm that the dungeon event only works correctly the first time and after that you will no longer get the popup if you select the general from the army scroll.

    It's been broken forever. IMO Repman needs to find an alternative way to achieve the same thing or drop the feature. I've seen him say that 'sometimes m2tw scripts are unstable', but this one should be unstable because it's a bad script. The problem is that it uses 'e_select_character' which is known not to work consistantly.

    so in other words there's nothing we can do about it? what does it depend on if it's working or not?
    that's kind of sad since retired generals seem to be really useful! and also, if you get unrest by rebel generals, it's increasing the difficulty a lot if you cant throw them into dungeon

    thanks for any kind of hints,
    danny =)

    I know, it's a really really great feature, but once it stops working in a campaign, it seems to stay not working. And apparently this isn't happening because of any kind of conflict, it's just this command by itself that seems dodgy. It's only 'bad script' because of a faulty scripting component BTW, I am not suggesting the scripter is a bad scripter

    thanks for the fast answer!

    do you think it might be worth a try to restart the campaign or start a campaign with another faction? if i got it right: once it works it will stay working, once it doesn't it will refuse working?!

    thanks,
    danny =)

    Unfortunately it's more like 'once it stops working, it stays stopped'.

    hey, just for clarification:

    does it stay stopped for the running campaign or does/might it work again when i start a new one?

    You can work around by doing this:

    remove the bad trait via remove_trait command
    remove some money from your treasury with add_money -xxx amount

    same effect and considered the feature is broken not even cheating

    you can find the name of the trait in the traits file, i think it was "disloyal" and the opposite is loyal but better check as I don't know which state of disloyalty your general is already in and there are different rebellous stages...

    Good point. It should be working when you start a new campaign.

    ok it might take some time until i do so (leading england to victory right now ) but i will post my experiences on that as soon as i get to it.
    i'm not sure if i'll manage to get disloyal generals again but well - the retirement thing should be subject of test at least

    in the previous post i promised to comment on the topic above, so here we go:

    i started a new campaign and the script was working (at least for retiring generals, haven't had disobedient characters yet). i think it's important that you follow EXACTLY the steps suggested in the manual. when you mess it up the first time (i. e. having more than the two corresponding characters in the capital etc.), "royal justice" and "retire generals" will never work again in the running campaign.

    so try to avoid any "unexpected" situations that mess the script up and it should work - at least for me it was this way!
    hope i could help to clarify this problem.

    This is VERY TRUE. In my tests this script has always worked. I tried to simulate it many times playing as Kingdom of Jerusalem. I scripted the King's death within the first 10 turns and let Guy de Lusignan -the one with the offends the nobles trait- take the throne. Then I followed EXACTLY the steps suggested in the manual (in order to calm my disobedient generals) and never had any problem.
    A mini-mod is never late! Nor is it ever early. It arrives precisely when I mean it to do!
